pra
So, what is the copyright policy regarding mods which are no longer being mantained? Is it "allowed" for other people to continue them? I'd especially like Manufacturing Extended and Crafting Workbenches to get continued. That Videos of the Wasteland would be nice, too
FrankFamily
The copyright policy is exactly the same as mods that were just uploaded and are mantained. The fact that the author stops giving support to the mod doesn't change anything. So, continuation of abandoned mods is complicated.
CiderMuffin
You can modify them on your own but you can't distribute them until you have the approval of the original mod author
TheSpaceShuttleChallenger
All mods are the property of their creator. That includes unfinished/unsupported mods. However, the modding community in general tends to be pretty generous when it comes to permissions. Most mod authors will allow you to pick up where they left off if you ask them nicely. Hell, I'd be ecstatic if someone wanted to come along and finish the mods I get tired of.
cartman1975
If they are still active here in the Nexus and the forums, you can ask them. Abandoning a mod and stopping any activity here goes hand in hand.
bill8872
Just because a mod has not been updated does not mean it has been abandoned. As long as it works after any game update. Then there is no reason to do anything with it. Crafting Workbenches is the core mod of at least 3 other mods I know of. So if there were issues with it, it would be updated. The other one I can't say, as I do also have it, but I really do not use it. The time I did it lagged out the settlement so bad I had to remove all those items. In my opinion that expansion was a waste of money.
AGreatWeight
There is a big difference between a mod being abandoned, and a mod being finished/completed. I've observed quite a few people thinking that these two words imply the same thing, simply because the mod author is no longer providing newer versions.I think it's important to remember the distinction. Videos of the Wasteland (for example) isn't abandoned, it's creator has simply fulfilled his vision (as much as he was able) of what the mod was, and has now moved on. The mod itself, is 'complete'However, contacting mod authors with a polite request to continue work on their mod is the best step.

pra
*bump* There is this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10597 I contacted the mod author lilkandeekid, and both the asset authors he mentioned, PoliteRaider and TeamBacon. No response.I went ahead and made an inofficial patch: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29516 Some people were asking me for changes to the arcade machines. And, of course, the Automatron machine is missing alltogether. And it would definitely make things easier if I could just pack everything into a BA2 file. Which would imply reuploading assets which aren't strictly speaking mine. So, what about this case?

You didn't get permission at all and it clearly states in the Craftable Arcade Machines permission notes that you need to get the author's permission before patching / updating the mod. The situational irony is that your patch mod permissions require people to get permission from you before they can patch / modify your patch files. Funny how you make that a requirement but you apparently have no qualms about ignoring permissions yourself.
