Re-Texture issues.

I used GIMP, FO3 Mod Manager, WinRAR, BSAopt and a GIMP Plugin that allows you to display Maps. I got my Daedric sword into GIMP (DDS file) and made the changes then I saved them. I went into Data went into textures (already had some mods installed so some files were already there)> weapons and then I added my daedricsword.dds into the weapons folder. According to

it should have replaced the old file with the new one during the game. I looked at my Daedric sword and nothing had changed ( It was an obvious change too, I made the handle yellow). So I am wondering what I did wrong...?

This is my first mod ever, I only figured out how to even install them last week. All help is appreciated, thank you in advance (and probably again later).

Did you include the /daedric/ folder? All Daedric weapons are stored at \Data\textures\weapons\daedric\. If you didn't place your file there, try it. If that doesn't work the next two issues to look into are Windows UAC problems and then Archive Invalidation. I've seen a handful of people with UAC issues though I haven't seen anyone post here yet that had an invalidation problem. I don't think NMM's Archive Invalidation is working yet, and I'veheard of someone using FOMM's archive invalidation (all the invalidation methods have been the same since BSA Redirection was brought to the table for Oblivion) though as I stated, this may not even be necessary.

Yeah, I just when back and checked and it was there. Not sure what you mean by UAC problems and Archive Invalidation's, like I said this is my first time lol. Mind explaining further, or maybe an article or something, I really want to figure this out. Thanks again

Windows UAC

If you're on Vista/7, Steam (and therefore Skyrim) is installed in the default (C:\Program Files) location, and you're having problems with replacers or simply mods (plugins) not working at all, even though you've activated them in NMM, or mods refusing to deactivate, even though all of their files have been removed, then you most likely have a UAC problem. It is possible to turn off UAC though it's not recommended for the vast majority of Windows users. To get around UAC without turning it completely off you'll need to move Steam to a location UAC does not affect (C:\Games\ is a commonly used location). This will most likely break any 3rd party utilities such as NMM as it will leave old registry keys behind that point to the location you originally installed Skyrim in. If you come across this issue, you'll have to uninstall Skyrim, clean the old registry keys, reboot, then reinstall Skyrim. I personally recommend using Revo Uninstaller as if you uninstall Skyrim through it, it will automatically scan for and ask if you'd like to delete old registry keys. If you're interested in keeping your old mods, config files, and/or saved games, tips found in Bben's Oblivion Reinstall Procedure work for Skyrim as well.

Edit: Your file is named appropriately as well correct? The name must match the name of the texture/mesh it's replacing.

Thanks for the reply again.

Yeah, it's definitively named right and all of that. I have actually been having trouble with some mods no working under specific circumstances (like installing through NMM), I think I may have to move it all over Data. Thank you again. :turned:

Will this work?"The following instructions are a simple way to move your Steam installation along with your games:

Exit the Steam client application.

Browse to the Steam installation folder for the Steam installation you would like to move (C:\Program Files\Steam by default).

Delete all of the files and folders except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe

Cut and paste the whole Steam folder to the new location, for example: D:\Games\Steam\

Launch Steam and log into your account.

Steam will briefly update and then you will be logged into your account. For installed games, verify your game cache files and you will be ready to play. All future game content will be downloaded to the new folder (D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\ in this example)"

I don't care at all for the mods I have installed, They are only graphic improvements that can easily be re-installed. Doing this will move everything that has to do with Steam (I only have Skyrim) to my Game Folder without losing any saves and stuff? The NMM will still work with Steam moved over here right? Also do you know where the Saves are kept? I want to make a Desktop copy of them before I start any of this...
