r78sdf34
I was getting constant blackscreens since launch day and was unable to play for more than 2 minutes without a crash after reaching Riverwood.Today I noticed that my GPU was bottlenecked by my CPU. (always 30-50% idle)It seems that my crash was caused by PowerPlay trying to reduce my clockspeed to save power. The following fixed it for me: 1. Download and install ATI Tray Tools. 2. Go to Hardware > Overclocking Settings and set your clockspeeds to their BIOS defaults. You may have to increase your voltage back to normal. This should disable Powerplay and lock your clockspeeds to their default settings. 3. Play Skyrim and pray that nothing else caused your blackscreen. back to skyrim...Soon i will reach level 2 and I will be unstoppable!
Blackrain69
Please don't put dodgy links to crap registery cleaners... they as bad as virus's very invasive active x controls, the driver package you install should have an optimizer to use for overclocking. It is a good idea, tho i don't usually have power savers on because of the problem's it cause's.
r78sdf34
Just an update I have been playing Skyrim for 50 hours now without a single blackscreen or CTD.1920x1080 on UltraNo mods or other programs Skyrim still gives me a blackscreen (after 5-60 minutes) without this workaround. maybe the next patch will fix it... Please don't put dodgy links to crap registery cleaners... they as bad as virus's very invasive active x controls, the driver package you install should have an optimizer to use for overclocking. Barnos13
Hey thanks for letting me know about this possible fix. At this stage i'm willing to try about anything to fix this crash. I downloaded the ATI Tray Tool and installed it but when I got into Hardware I don't see anything called Overclock Settings. Any ideas about this? Thanks again.
