BKS
:bye: I am a total Modding NEWB I have been messing with the construction set and have easily changed the textures on some clothing items in the "Legolas Gear" Mod by MagicNakor & the "CDR_Thin_Clothing_mod" by Niero. To finish my characters look I really want to create a white leather quiver with a yellow/gold cross on it. I have tried to do this by manipulating the textures in the "Quivers-FletchingKit_Version2" mod by farrp, Hazelnut, and SnakeBitten to no avail. THe file extensions are different in the "Quivers-FletchingKit_Version2" mod and even though I have changed some textures and saved them in the mod, they do not appear in the game. I have been completely unsuccessful opening "NIF" files which I think may be where my problem lies. I am thinking there may be some textures associated with the NIF files but, I am frankly clueless. Again, the texture files I have changed do not show up at all in the game. I downloaded Microsoft DirectX 9.0 SDK which has a texture tool, but it's not very intuitive. Can anyone help? :whistling:
Almelexia
You are not a modding new if you can make textures. That isnt that most easy thing you can do. And with the quiver, I think that there are some strange file in the texture that prevents you from putting it to the game. And for the safer thing is that you just give the already made textures in CS another id and just retexture them. If you make a totally new then could the chanse for a not welcome file follows be big. that have happened to me sometime, and if you have done that way then i suggest you should find a texturing tutorial so you can read about it. That will be a easy thing to do.
BKS
Ok, so I understand how to rename the current files and I already have the texture I want to use.... but how do I apply it to the NIF in the copied files?
Ysgawyn
how do I apply it to the NIF in the copied files? you can do it only by hex editing the NIF filethere is a tutorial about that here, look for Morrowind sectionafter reading the basics
BKS
:help: Thanks everyone for the help, but I am a social worker. Binary numbers are way over my head. Cutting and pasting .bmp files I can do but, Hex editing seems to be beyond me. I downloaded Hex Workshop 4.1 and tried to follow the directions on the links but, I cannot even determine how to set the "string search" to ascii (and yes i did read the directions). I am open to suggestions like an easier hex editing program or instructions that follow a particular hex editing program but, if that doesnt work out, would anyone be willing to change the texture color in a set of quivers in the "Quivers-FletchingKit_Version2" mod to a stark white for me? If you can add a small gold or yellow cross to the center of the quiver that would be great, but it's not that important. I also would like a white cape (why dont modders like white clothing!). :oP Help if you can, and Happy New Year to you and yours even if you cant! :stupid: Thanks.Brian
