Bosmer and Cannibalism... where are you?

One of the most appealing aspects of Bethesda's lore is it's twist on stereotypical fantasy archetypes. One of my favorites among these is the Bosmer. They aren't the tree-hugging flower children that most "wood elves" are in other fantasy works. While it is true that they do retain a deep reverence for nature, that devotion has led to some very interesting twists. Most prevalent of these is their carnivorous diet which consists of, you guessed it, other humanoids. Whether it be fallen enemy or respected family member (that part I may have wrong), they munch down on other bipeds with astounding commitment, supposedly consuming them in their entirety within a couple of weeks.

I would like to see this implemented into the game in some way. If I can't get an Elder Scrolls chapter that has a Wild Hunt, I at least want to snack on my enemies without having to track down a random quest in Markarth.

I read about that in the lore, I don´t recall seeing references nor behaviors from wood elves about that matter in morrowind, oblivion and skyrim.I think they are suppose to eat only meat as well as they respect plants or something, kind like the opposite of vegans XD

Hell yeah, they should have implemented something like the Undead's cannibalize ability from WoW for bosmer :P

As far as I know, they only cannibalize their dead, and only family members, as a way of respecting those that came before them. Something to do with the circle of life and all that jazz. I honestly don't know too much about this though.

There's a quest where you're able to become a cannibal.

Actually, one of the wikis said that they would fast before battles. Guess they had to save room for the buffet.

You sure its Nocturnal? Wasn't it mephala or someone like that?

Yeah, Nocturnal is NOT the one who makes you a canibal. I can't remember said Daedra's name, but its the quest started by the Priest in Markarth.

 

As for the Bosmer, they are cannibals in that they eat their OWN dead, not others. Their fasting before a battle was so they could then eat their own losses, not the enemy.

Bosmer in Valenwood, as part of the Green pact (c/o UESP) only eat meat. They must also eat the flesh of fallen enemies. They are not permitted to use the wood or vegetation of Valenwood as building materials, or to cut down any of the trees of the Valenwood.

 

I'd love to see a mod that incorporates this but I wonder if it is a restriction only on those Bosmer who live in the Valenwood. Needless to say, vegetables are likely a guilty pleasure for traveling Bosmer.
