tharius1
I've been playing the game for a while now and I'm pretty dissapointed that the only time I've felt any kind of fear was during one part in the Dark Brotherhood questline. In Oblivion there were plenty of times I've felt fear. The undead in that game were genuinely frightening at times. Moments in desolated Ayleid ruins hearing some zombie making sounds somewhere, unable to find it but turning around a moment later to get a face-full of it. Don't even get my started on the wraiths in Oblivion, those things were extremely freaky. Then we have the realms of Oblivion themselves, lands full of a macabre and twisted creatures. First time I saw a Spider Daedroth I was pretty shocked to say the least. Every time I came across an Oblivion gate in the wilds I always felt an unsettled feeling about it as I saw the bloody colors and the Daedra roaming around the area. Also the Dark Brotherhood quests were much more frightening, I'll never forget the lighthouse in Anvil, the ghost popping up in front of me after reading the gravestone at Applewatch, Lucien's mangled corpse and preparing to meet the Night Mother for the first time. Really scary stuff. Dark Brotherhood overall had much better, much more chilling characters in Oblivion than in Skyrim IMO. Skyrim in contrast has no horror*at all* almost. The Draugr and Spiders have never frightened me, there were no weird creepy locations met on the way, no ghosts and there's nothing to fear in Dragons but a fiery death. The Falmer were actually alright especially with the settings you found those in and the lost Dwemer ruins but that was it. If I'm wrong and there are good horror elements in Skyrim that I just have missed, I'd be glad to hear of them. Seviche
Video games don't scare me in the slightest. Anything that most people find "frightening," I find interesting. Perhaps I'm not right in the head that supposedly "scary" video games have never scared me. I did like the ghostly quest from the main quest line in Oblivion. The Emperor's Tomb in Oblivion was so cool. The Night Mother in Skyrim made me giggle. *shrug*

bloodshade
I found the dragon sounds to be really creepy, especially when I don't know one is around, and the cave sounds sound pretty amazing, but it's only that way for me when I'm wearing my nice pair of headphones. Shantih
Could it be that we've become used to all that? I don't like spiders but I can handle them (as long as they don't creep up on me). But the spider factor is highly subjective. Gore? In videogames it tends to be funny rather than scary. Finding a mangled corpse in Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim is not scary. I think that scary moments happen when they've been carefully built up and use not only visual cues but sounds as well. The only moment in a videogame when I felt a chill down my spine was when playing Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and it wasn't some of the gory bits (these are fun) but the first time I've gone through the Oceanside Hotel... Edited December 9, 2011 by Shantih
Seviche
http://i.imgur.com/rjodL.jpgDon't be jealous now. Not everyone can wear the "Big Boy" pants. It's good that you know your limitations.
