Oblivion 1.2 screwed up gameplay?

I was wondering if anyone had this problem, 1.2 didn't work my retail version of the game. I then googled for alternatives to patch the game and found the 'unofficial patch'. After installing it, my game is acting weird. When I double click the shortcut on my desktop, the game launches automatically without showing that splash screen or w/e and whenever I quit the game, a new window will appear at the same time showing that oblivion isn't working properly. Also, I cannot set custom settings. Although all settings are set to max at default, I tried changing my resolution to 1980x1080 instead of 1650x1050 but I can't. Whenever I restart the game the setting just went back to default.

 

P.S: My game is the US version, I own the DVD along with the shivering isles and all the other mods since I bought the game of the year edition from costco at about $45.99 or so. I'm not using any no CD/DVD patches or whatever.
