blasphemer9
After playing Skyrim now for well over 100 hours there are a few things I really would like to see modded. With the release of the CK my wish might even come true, to a certain extent. Here is my personal wish list for future Skyrim mods (some of which might be included in a DLC or an expansion pack, who knows) InterfaceA better inventory interface The current interface, menu and basically the whole look and feel reminds me of a game console... Seriously? On the PC this can be surely fixed, right. I would like better stacks, stats and all the shabang. I even would not mind a MW inventory to some extent. Also a 3D model of the player should be implemented where you drag and drop the equipment you like and see how it looks, along with highlighting the appropriate slots. I am thinking this in 3D. I did not see that comingThe HUD could use a slight overhaul, IMO. But this is optional, as the current one isn't so bad at all, just a few tweaks here and there. MinimapHow about a transparent minimap? Something similar to Diablo 2, perhaps. That would be rather nice, at least when exploring some seriously huge Dewmer ruins. GameplayCreature levelsSo far the creature levels are way better done than in OB, but this could still use some tweaking. Some regions should simply be for high powered chars only, so no more stumbling into a cave, setting level and then coming back with kick-ass equipment. CraftingThe whole alchemy, armour/weapon crafting and enchanting needs some serious work. Not necessarily in terms of being more complex, but in terms of inner logic. Making scroll on your own? Fine! Also, whilst being a mage and all, one should be able to do "research", tweak enchantments and all. Or discover new ones. More of the sameWeapons, armour and basically the whole equipment is too repetitive. Even if things have the same stats, it would be nice to have more variety in the game. Also, epic sets would be nice... for example some sort of Dragonborn armour, found some place that belonged to another DB in the past? But I figure this will get fixed with the CK fairly soon.Same could be applied to foods and other items, as they all look pretty much the same. Spiffier apparelArmours and their parts should be more versatile, and more customizable. Shoulder guards should be included and the whole thing ought to be more along the lines of other RPGs - this whole easy-beasy thing (probably due to the fact that it all needs to fit the PC, Xbox and PS) should be slightly better. If I want a white armour, so be it, I simply dye it, end of story. More jewellery, please. Two or three rings would be nice. Killing in the name of...The finishing moves are rather nifty, and I want more of them. After the first beheading I thought, wow! Then the first close up dragon kill, with jumping on it and all, awesome! So, more of this! Especially when fighting two handed with blades. Minced meat, here we come!Or for those grossly huge spiders: slide under them, slit em open and come back up right behind them. I am thinking a hit with the pommel or the fist 8sword still held) as an entree, then a nice slide-n-dice move for main dish. For dessert I am thinking that wiping the blade off would be spiffy. Also, the player could wipe sweat/blood off after such a move. Idle hands are the devils playgroundSo far I've seen a few really cool animations, but there could be more. Examples: after sprinting and exhausting their stamina, the player could pause for a little while and band over pressing their hands to their side or catching breath smilar to this. Also, and I do not know if this can be done, the player could (after you get the idle camera roundabout) check their equipment, or take a bite out of an apple or pick their nose - Just for giggles. But it would be nice, though. Sons and daughters of SkyrimI really like this whole civil war questline and would love to see it expanded. Also, the whole questline should have more impact on the whole world. In conjunction with the Dark Brotherhood quest to kill the Emperor, the impact ought to much more significant. ImmersionWilder wildSome places in Skyrim look simply dull, take for example the area around Whiterun. IMO this needs some work. Same goes for the fauna, just a few bears and spiders just do not cut it. I would like way more wild animals, some aggressive, but most just for decoration. Sounds and musicBird noises! Overall more ambient sounds, to be precise. Especially more nature sounds all over the place. Leafs rustling in the wind, birds, breaking of the waves on the shore and the sound of ice crushing and working on the water. In towns there should be some sort of ambient sound, chatter, people working and craftsmen going about their business. Roads and travelOkay, so I can get a cart to drive me around, but I do not see them on the roads? Well, does not have to be crowded, but a few more travellers (beside the typical Imperial prisoner transport) would be nice. I like those hunters going about their business, so perhaps a few gatherers would be cool. They would walk about and collect plants and what not, then head back to some city or hold.Basically, there should be some more action on the roads in Skyrim. I bought a houseAnd now I am stuck with it. I want a keep! Or a town for that matter, do not care. There was this really nice MOD for FO:NV where you would have your own camp and all. I am hoping this can be done with the engine. So you'd start with a house, or two and people would move in - drawn by your reputation and wealth. Then you could hire craftsmen who would start expanding your houses to a hamlet, or a small town. All in good time, of course. To enhance the experience, it would be nice if the buildings would be built step by step, not just pop up and be there. Well, this could be expanded some more, but I guess this is the general idea. You did what? While some NPCs recognise the progress of the player, I would like to see more of this. I mean, I killed a dragon right in front of Riften city gates and all the peeps had to say about it, was "Where did that come from?" They should pat the player on the back and cheer, or something to that extent. It would be nice to have some more interaction with the people and a set of according reactions. Party hardMore action in the inns, seriously! I stumbled upon this and it gave me the damn chills! More of this in the inns, if humanly possible, pretty please. Maybe one or two new bard songs in the inns would not hurt at all. The best would be if the bards would actually sing/comment on the player's progress... but this is rather hard to code, I am aware of this. And finding good material or even creating some is most likely a mission impossible. Then again, maybe Malukah could be coaxed into providing some stuff, who knows. Personally I think Bethesda would be well advised to hire her for an expansion ;)Also, if peoples are in inns, they should do something more than just sit around and eat bread. Chat, dance and sing... I don't know, just do something. And perhaps get drunk and stumble home or fall over. Naked in the rainSome parts of Skyrim are just nasty, they are cold and windy. This should have some sort of effect on the player and the environment. As mentioned above, it would start with the sound of crunching snow when walking over it. Or even slower movement, when walking through deep snow. Also, if not properly protected, you'd suffer from cold damage. Also, visibility in those areas should be greatly reduced. For all of us who actually were in a snow storm: it's not a laughing matter. They are just one person!Pretty much everyone in Skyrim has a nearly perfect BMI, this is rather dull. I would like to see short peeps, tall ones, fatties and scrawny peeps. Also, where are the old dudes? Or does everyone in Skyrim have some sort of problem with geezers? Maybe they live some place I've not seen yet. Same applies to teens, I mean, come on, you got kids and adults... are all teens in Cyrodiil attending university or college, or what? Better doggiesWardogs? As mentioned in Markarth, but better. And add a few more models to it, those dogs look all the same. I am thinking about this dog in Dragon Age, it was rather cool. And while talking about dogs... the wolves (as well as the werewolf) need some work. Instead of turning into one, there should be the whole full moon thing going on now and then. Perhaps with some warning, unless you want to get into trouble in a city ;) All in all the werewolf is a cool addition, IMO.Haven't played the vampire so far, so can not really tell what that's like, but I am sure there is something that can be done to the vampire, too. GraphicsBetter texturesI know this is being worked on and so far I've seen some really cool re-textures. Keep it up! More plantsA few more plants and some grass would be nice. I seem to remember that OB had it. Of course with the accompanying rustling when walking through it. A few more shrubs and bushes would most certainly spice things up, IMO. The Weather ChannelSome weather effects should be revamped, like fog and snow (as mentioned above). I love the aurora, and the cool moons but I am sure there is still room for improvement. So far I've seen only rain, but heard no thunder or see no lightning. There are some spots where you can look far into the land and it would be cool to seem some lightning strike a tree or something. Also, standing on top of a mountain in an iron plate would most certainly draw the attention of lightning, right? 100,000 Volt right into the head - where a mere mortal would be just a crisp, the Dragonborn would shrug it off and walk home supercharged :teehee: Another idea (which I would consider immersion, too) would be to modify the landscape according to the weather. If it snows in the plains, then some snow should fall on the ground. It can melt afterwards, but still. It is kind of odd to run from a snow storm straight into a green forest and simply have the ground colour change - I am sure the weather engine in the game can do way better than that. Some weird ideasDragon petsSmall dragons, not the big ones or the one you can summon, just small ones - they do not even have to fly. Well, maybe just as animals in your possession, do no really know what is actually possible, but it would be an idea. Ride the DragonI am sure this will come! Spears and HalberdsPole arms in general should really be revived, IMO. Better economyIf you sell like 20 swords to the blacksmith, this should have some sort of impact on the economy, i.e. the price would fall significantly. Same goes for all the other stuff you sell off. Also, if you haul those ridiculous amounts of grab out of those dungeons, and people buy it off of the merchants, the wealth of the city would improve. This would also impact the equipment of NPCs in general. If the blacksmith has some cool junk to sell, people would buy it and wear it. Especially those who need it, like guards or adventurers.Same would apply to produce and ingredients, of course. It would also then make sense to buy stuff and trade it elsewhere. Investing into shops then would make much more sense and yield a decent profit. Well, maybe inflation should be also considered. Considering the amount of gold ore (coins respectively) that mines pump into the economy, in addition to the gold the player finds, the overall value of gold should be diminished. So, if a steel sword costs you 20 gold in the beginning, it would actually go up to 200, only because there is so much more gold available. Considering this, the player does not have any expenses, I've noticed. Just collecting coins for the sake of it makes no sense at all. Even if food and drink (as part of a hardcore mod) are not really implemented yet (though I think there is a mod for this), it would make sense if the player had some sort of expenses. Otherwise the player gets rich and richer without any means to blow that cash on some stupid junk, a hobby or whatever... Maybe one could hold feasts in their homes, that would be nice and improve the standing in the community  Seeing people leave your residence in a drunken stupor would add to the overall experience. Virtual competitionThere should be some adventurers running about. Like hunters and the aforementioned foragers, several NPCs should run about and do the same stuff the player does: seek adventure. some could even level accordingly and the player could meet them in a dungeon, or ruin, going bout their business. If you piss them off, they would even attack you - and considering the fact that they level, it might be actually quite entertaining to meet a Lvl 50 NPC (similarly levelled as the player) with cool equipment who would actually pose a serious challenge if not a threat - worst case: they raid your home and steal your stuff! Better ShadowmereI think this is being worked on, but still...I am thinking along those lines, but with a Shire Horse as a mesh model. Well, this is on my wish list for Skyrim mods. Perhaps some of this is feasible, maybe some is not (due to the engine, or due to restrictions hard-coded into it by Bethesda). Maybe this will even give a modder a few ideas, who knows; if so, neato! If not, then I'll simply keep of dreaming of a better world ;) Edited December 9, 2011 by blasphemer9
erenoth02
I agree with the weapons, I started out with iron, upgraded to steel, up to elevin, up to glass, now I'm seeing random ebony weapons, its a bit of a pain to have to keep selling your equipment for the next upgrade, unlike oblivion I could keep my weapons for quite awhile I would have a glass weapon and later find a steel weapon that was 10times better.. but now is droll, sell all your previous weapons and upgrade, have someone enchant them, I quite often go on money raids selling as much as I can before Im able to afford uprgrading, I miss the days of a mage's cloak with high armor enchantments. or mixing and matching. Also having shop keepers level up with my character....................... i finally hit level 30... and they suddenly have 1000 gold as opposed to 500.... :wallbash: so much for the immersion and I would <3 love a mod for leveling up :) being able to tweak my strength or luck again :)
ModelV
I bought a houseAnd now I am stuck with it. I want a keep! Or a town for that matter, do not care. But back to my rule point: The guy who made that mod quit and I really dont blame him because after all the years single handedly working on the mod(Yea if the mod cant go on without him the rest of the team werent really working.) it never quite worked how it was supposed to. The bugs and Immersion breaking effects were too much. So dont expect anyone to try this again in Skyrium. However DantheGeek is going to start working on Skyrium so your safe in terms of awesome House mods coming out. The guy is a Genius.

punxdog
I added some more animal spawns to a mod [forum requests mod, see below] and whilst not going all the way, will certainly make wildlife more alive and didn't take me a ton of time to put out. Really it's a stop gap until the CK comes out, which is the real limitation atm and a far more comprensive mod will be made. You got to understand that you can't make scripts, just edit values. Really though, there are a TON of mods out there that do parts of what you are requesting and it's really helpful for someone like me, who likes doing a little mod request every now and then if the list is more concise or more detailed and specific. You have a great list, and some great ideas mind you, it's just that it's too much to tackle, my minds like.. so do I try and tackle the creatures, the bards music... lol... toooo many good ideas :P Having said that, start making your own little mod, you'll soon find that you might be able to do much more than you thought possible.
