Is there any hope in continuing my game?

So I had done a tone of mods on my game previously, but decided all the crashes where not worth the extra pretty scenery.

So I loaded a game save followed these instructions:

1) Load game with uGridsToLoad at your current setting.

2) Load the save, which should load correctly.

3) Open the console and type the following:

setini "ugridstoload:general" 5

saveini

refreshini"

Now I can move about in my current location, and can fast travel to previously visted location.

BUT I can't travel through skyrim, or walk to new locations without the game crashing to desktop. No error messages, just crashes. Even if I stay in the towns I have visted the game will crash after about 5-10 minutes.

I currently have all my settings at default, with 0 mods. The other odd thing is that all my loading screens are now red in color.

I also tried

Here the full solution step by step:

-. Open the configuration panel from the standard Skyrim launcher, the cool borderless splash screen one (not the 4GB launcher!!)

-. Configuration

-. Flag the window mode option and select whatever resolution you prefer, just go for one that's smaller than your screen

-. Start the game, now windowed

-. Alt+Tab to be able to move your cursor out of the game window and open the Skyrim.ini file you can find in the "MyDocuments\My Games\Skyrim\" folder

-. Change the "uGridsToLoad" and "uExterior Cell Buffer" values to the lower ones you need and SAVE

-. Click inside the game window to get back in control of the game cursor and open the console (press the "~" button, the one below "Esc")

-. Type refreshini and hit Enter

-. Now make a new savegame, even a quick one

-. Exit the game

-. Now you can run Skyrim again with the fullscreen resolution, the latest save file will work at the lower uGridsToLoad value!!!

That didn't work.

I would like to continue my game as I'm a good 50 hours into it.
