JanusForbeare
Nicely modelled and textured. That being said, I'm with Toasty on this one; this throws lore right out the window. To use this, you basically have to accept that Tamriel skipped roughly five hundred years of technological development, and/or that the Dwemer military functioned entirely differently than the records suggest (the book 'Chimarvamidium' makes it pretty clear that Dwemer tactics were built around heavily armed and armoured melee-focused regiments supplemented by centurions). However, for those players to whom the lore is not a major concern, I can see this being a lot of fun. I wouldn't download it, but a lot of other players might. the_great_mantis
A matchlock or gonne would be actually be the most lore-friendly, at least in comparison to a flintlock. I think a front-stuffer would be pretty hard to animate, though.
jsnider193
why not just make the thing powered by a charged soul gem .. the type would determine how many shots get and/or power of same .. that way do not have to worry about load animation so much. Should help with simplyfying model and use .. could then fire flame/freeze or just a force bolt .. all of which are in the game and should be moddable to reduce size or such. Just an Idea as gotta wonder why the dweomer had sorl gems and used them to power the construct so why not this.
wolfe171
Ya know I was actually thinking that maybe a gun-like/cannon-like construct would be at least somewhat lore-friendly to skyrim, but maybe I'm putting too much stock in people's mastery of magic in skyrim. To clarify, I was thinking it'd be a construct essentially operating like a staff combined with a crossbow. There would be some kind of barrel/resting area for the bolt/arrow/round/whatever, and a controlled explosion from a fireball-esqe spell or a particularly focused telekinesis spell would propel the projectile at magnificent speeds. Obviously this would be a rather complex construct, requiring excellent metal-working (at least to keep the controlled explosion concept from just blowing up your weapon) and excellent enchanting skill. Once the construct was finished being built, it'd be particularly easy to operate. If more rilfe-like, the character would simply pop the projectile down the barrel and activate the firing mechanism (being a magic-powered weapon, could really be just like casting a spell or using a staff); if more like a crossbow, just pop the bolt into its slot and activate firing mechanism. Then all you'd need is ammo and soul gems to keep it going. I figure this idea would actually give the most liberal artistic freedom to the weapon. Since literally all it needs is a guiding means for the projectile and a physical housing for the soul gem, it could literally look like anything. It wouldn't necessarily need to look like a rifle, since it wouldn't NEED to facilitate a trigger or hammer or firing pin or drawstring or anything. Could be a rock with a groove carved into it and a soul gem shoved into the side of it, and the power of enchanting would make it work all the same. Obviously an arrow-flinging-rock wouldn't be particularly exciting, but I'm just trying to reinforce my point. Honestly, if I had any idea whatsoever on how to actually MAKE my little weapon idea a reality, I would be doing that right now. Oh and I'm not terribly heavy on the entirety of the elder scrolls lore (oblivion was my starting point) so please don't be offended if this idea just seems outrageous to you. Just figured I'd post up my idea, take it or leave it I guess.
redtrek524
Let those who are obsessed with lore ignore this mod. For the rest of us who are sick of bows & swords, please do continue. I will be following your progress with much interest.

huntsman2310
Unfortunately I can only texture, model, write, construct and make mods. I can't animate though. My greatest failure. :(
