qman716
Hey everyone, I wasn't exactly sure of where to post this. but here is my issue my game will crash anywhere between 30 seconds and 5 minutes of playtime. For the past few days I've been trying to get the game working with mods and it was working up until i tried installing multiple texture mods (ex. nmc, ojo bueno, fco, redesigned 3). around then i was having the crash issues. So i scoured the internet looking for answers, so i found that fco and redesigned arent really meant to work together. So i disabled one and tried the other, again no dice. So i ended up just uninstalling both, game was still having the issue. Tried plenty of fixes that include, using loot/boss, making a merge patch with fnvedit, using compatibility mode, running as admin, uninstalling the mods, deleting the ini files, editing the ini files, again deleting those ini files, verifying game cache, reinstalling the whole game multiple times (with no mods this time, starting new games) blehhh, kinda at my ropes end. those fixes are all i believe, but i may have missed a couple. If it helps this the error info from event viewer of my last crashFaulting application name: FalloutNV.exe, version: 1.4.0.525, time stamp: 0x4e0d50edFaulting module name: FalloutNV.exe, version: 1.4.0.525, time stamp: 0x4e0d50edException code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x00602f52Faulting process id: 0x1f58Faulting application start time: 0x01d220f4aedef7a1Faulting application path: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\FalloutNV.exeFaulting module path: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\FalloutNV.exeReport Id: fa7a25a4-6ff3-4e39-83c5-2b3ab7bdeb54Faulting package full name:Faulting package-relative application ID: Thanks my dudes for any help, and if you need any other info let me know. Zeppelin1996
You didn't mention using the 4GB Launcher, so that's what I would try next. I had a similar problem a couple of months ago when I first installed mods for New Vegas. That fixed it for me. Hope it helps.
dubiousintent
The FNV4GB launcher is a good step. But also take a look at this issue in the wiki article "Fallout NV Troubleshooting" guide. It covers how to increase your "heap" allocation which is the typical cause of texture memory exhaustion (the "Exception code: 0xc0000005"). BUT, be aware that there are limits to how much texture replacement you can live with. Higher rez puts logarithmic increased demand on your graphics capability and currently Win10 caps this at 4GB regardless of your video card. Try using lower rez (like 1024x1024, which is double the standard default of 512x512) and prioritize what is most important; and add and test one replacer at a time. -Dubious-
