chains88
Vague topic sorry, didn't know what else to put there.Okay so this is my first time using Bodyslide, NifSkope, Gibbed, all that jazz. I had moderate success earlier when I was trimming an already set up mod down. I was taking DanLi's VaultExplorer mod and I first took off the neck things and gloves (GrinnginUrchen's Toxic Raider), and the black harness that was clipping with the original brown harness from PixiePig's Slooty Vault Jumpsuit. Well, this was the easy part. All I had to do was just delete the appropriate Mesh in Outfit Studio since this mashup is essentially 5 to 6 different mods just thrown together. I DID try this trimmed version out, and instead of creating a new item I just saved the .nif over the original VaultExplorerBLUE.nif to save myself the hassle. http://i.imgur.com/T88vdiU.pngNow here's where my problem is. The cleavage was irritating me, not just that but the buckle that would rub a hole in her sternum. So I wanted to add a T-shirt underneath. I took the TShirtSlacksPrewar.nif, the 3 .dds, and the .bgsm and created COPIES, and just renamed them all TShirtSlacksPrewarEDIT for my benefit. So I threw the 3 .dds's into GIMP and trimmed down to just the shirt, no need for the pants and shoes if I can help it... ahhh fugg it, I'll just make it a bib since it'll only show on the front between the unzipped zipper.http://i.imgur.com/X3QuCGi.pngAlright, so the 3 .dds files are trimmed, then I had to Gib my .bgsm which turned it into .json and I edited some lines. (whats the difference between .json and .txt?) Directed 3 lines to the .dds file locations and added a line at the bottom which was suppose to make my erased bits from the .dds's invisible but it DID NOT.http://i.imgur.com/B30doPu.png**************** IMPORTANT... probably ******************before these .bgsm .dds and .nif were located not in Danli/VaultExplorer/ but in Clothes/TShirtSlacksEDIT/ (where I had originally just copied and pasted in the same location with the original TShirtSlacks and renamed the copy TShirtSlacksEDIT for all required files and folders). When I test ran it this way my game loaded fine, but the shirt and slacks was not invisible on the parts I had cut out, everything was just purple, even the shirt 'bib' that was not cut out. So it had the VaultExplorer loading fine but with the purple TShirtSlacks clipping through it. Did some research and came to the conclusion for it being purple was my files were not in the correct spot or something, hierarchies or something, I dunno. That's when I decided to relocate the Clothes/TShirtSlacksEDIT/ to Danli/VaultExplorer and just have everything in the same folders as VaultExplorer outfit for the appropriate extensions. Here's what she looks like in Outfit Studiohttp://i.imgur.com/Up2T0li.pngAnd another picturehttp://i.imgur.com/KQkE95y.pngSo like I said... I'm new to this, day 1 actually. I did not attach any files because I didn't want to upload the wrong thing or what not. If you want to look at certain files, ask me and I'll post them. Also, if you do fix my problem for me, I'd rather you tell me how you did it so I can also just do it myself instead of downloading my fixed problem from you. I want to learn how to do this so I can create more mashups of my own. Thank you for your time and help. *oh, and I more or less used this guide http://arideya.tumblr.com/post/139307195693/arideyas-guide-to-modding-fo4-outfits-outfit , if you even needed that Edited October 8, 2016 by chains88
chains88
Okay so... I've been looking at my NifSkope and realised that the file itself is Danli\VaultExplorer\VaultExplorerBLUE.nif and the 76 BSSubIndexTriShape sub-branch for Suit_2 is DanLi\VaultExplorer\VaultExplorerBLUE.bgsm. They're different extensions so I wouldn't think I'm referencing itself somehow, creating a loop dump or something? Sorry if I'm using improper terms... the only 'programing' class I've had was Visual Basic and that was like 3 years ago.
chains88
Heh... alright guys, I figured it out. Something was wrong with the .dds's, not sure what but I deleted the 3 I had in DanLi\VaultExplorer and copy-pasted new ones from TShirtSlacks and renamed them the same as I had before, but this time I only edited TShirtSlacksPrewarEDIT_d.dds, not the _n or _s ... not sure why that fixed it, but it did **SOLVED
