SLuckyD
[TO THE PEOPLE WHO IT MAY CONCERN AT SKYRIM NEXUS, THE FILE SITE (not the forums):](feel free to move this to wherever you feel it should have been posted... I didn't now where else to put it; or to send email)I've posted a couple things/mods on the SkyNex, and think you guys have done an excellent job setting up and maintaining the site. My problem is that during the upload process, there is a single page with a ton of stuff to fill out. No big deal, very necessary & pertinent. The problems arise after having gone through the entire rigamarole only to be told upon clicking 'submit' that there was some KRAPPY LITTLE mistake that just erased EVERYTHING, which I didn't even know was preventable. When returning to edit my uploads' info, same thing - any changes I made were WIPED OUT and had to be re-entered (I forgot, then put a bloody hyphen, period, or SOMETHING in my 'filename/description'). Once bitten, twice aggravated... so unless this is changed somehow, I have to write my info & changes in NOTEPAD++, then cut/paste it over (lest I forget my sentiments or lose my patience in fear of 'slipping up'). PLEASE, help me out.. more specifically:(under the "edit attributes" link for something already uploaded)the 'filename'- kinda misleading, as the 1st time I thought it was the actual filename... but NO non-alphanumeric-like characters are allowed. hmmm... how to do that... (there is no warning on the 'long form page' indicating this, until it's too late). I wound up making it into a 'file DESCRIPTION' (which, in my opinion would be a better way of naming the field). POSSIBLE SOLUTION: maybe not cutting to a diff page, but scanning the answers in place; it seems most websites (even SkyNex, for other stuff I believe) do something like that for such things (lengthy forms or 'essay questions'). This would enable User to see what mistake(s) they made IN PLACE (not just an error message leaving one to wonder what SPECIFICALLY to change), and allow adjustments on-the-spot (as opposed to re-entering the ENTIRE FORM). A little blue i-box to the right indicating any restrictions should reduce future misconceptions. [continued in the next post]
SLuckyD
the yes/no pulldown for 'does your mod contain stuff from other people, which cannot be yadayada'- this is apparently set to 'yes' by default. Though there are probably good reasons for having done that, I'm almost offended that I, as a completely original author, have to double-check to make sure my work isn't misrepresented as having 3rd party resources... EVERY TIME. (..and that INCLUDES editing just the descriptions, it REVERTS back to YES every time the smallest thing is changed) Shouldn't the people who NEED to specify that yes/no (for legal reasons) be the ones to ensure the correct answer is selected? This isn't that big of a deal, YET... though every time I have to give pause, scan for, and change that ONE yes/no, I lose a little bit more patience with SkyNex. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS: maybe allowing for 'customizable' defaults somewhere. I know that's a tall order, but maybe in lieu of, the current GLOBAL default could be switched to "no." In the very least, PLEASE change this so it doesn't REVERT to yes... it seems to be the ONLY thing on the page set to revert back to default (many other yes/no's I left as-is, so dunno for sure). Thank you for the time, effort, and resources you guys have already invested into your work at the Skyrim Nexus: GREAT JOB. I would appreciate your consideration of the seemingly unimportant matters above with sincerity and perspective. Thanks in advance for any acknowledgement and/or action.- SLuckyD(one of the newest modders to the ACTUAL SCENE, though I've been around for AWHILE)
