Game crash misery, help please?!

Hi

Recently started playing Fallout 3 with mods - after Oblivion, thought it only fair to give some recommended a try - unfortunately I am plagued incessant crashes, action/ attack left mouse in-operability and no respawns. I cannot seem to get EVE and EWE to load either, game will not boot with them. I have tried FO3Edit; no errors occur on running this but no esp file generated when running Masterupdate, and no improvement to gameplay so I conclude this did not work properly. I reckon I have clashes or possibly too many mods - nothing new - but FOMM does not bring errors either. Here is my load order. Please take a look, any help would be greatly appreciated.

FoMM doesn't really report errors well, and it doesn't update it's load sort list well either. I would suggest using BOSS for FO3 to sort everything. Not only will it get everything in the best possible order, but it will also report on any mods that conflict, and let you know which ones they are.

You aren't close to the mod limit, so my guess is that you have several mods with scripts all trying to do conflicting things.

Also, if you're going to be running FWE and FOOK and WMK, etc all together, make sure you get the [http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4968]FOIP[/url] files to make them all play nicely together.

Unfortunately that hasn't worked. Still crashes on startup with EVE/EWE and action keys become inactive. BOSS Log says no issues. I have read that EVE not compatible with FOOK2 but I suppose that's what the FOIP is for.Any more suggs please?

If FOOK2 were a school kid, his report card would have said "Does not play well with others".

FOOK2 contains a version of EVE, so it shouldn't be necessary at all to begin with.

Additionally there are some other issues in your load order.

1: You are using FOOK2 with FWE. This is a known killer of stability.

2: You are not using the FWE or MMM packages for Fallout Remastered.

3: You are using James Invisible Wall Bugs Remover improperly.

a) It must be loaded very late or last in your load order

b) It CANNOT be used with Fallout Remastered, as it is already contained therein.

4: FO3 Wanderers Alternate Travel should be loaded AFTER Fallout Wanderers Edition - Main File.esp

And as an aside, I basically have noticed that you have not read any readmes associated with any of your mods, because if you had you would not have these problems.

However you ran BOSS, you didn't read the output right or let it do it's job properly. It should have told you that Wall Bugs Remover and Fallout Remastered are mutually exclusive, and cannot be used together.

Have you performed a Master Update on all your files? If you have, you MUST MasterRestore Fallout Remastered. It is not designed to be an .esm file.

I admit that I had expected FOMM to do what it said and sort them, ha. I've made a few additions as per readmes and suggs (thanks Jeoshua), but now I have missing meshes on weapons and apparel when adding FWE - FOOK compatibility patches. BOSS tells me I have old version of the patch but I can't find an updated version, this was the one from Nexus site. I still have crashing, and I'm sure that I have created more problems, though not noticed any more than ones mentioned. Also, do I need Darnified Extras esp? If so can someone point me right direction please. I am unsure of FOOK 2 load order in relation to others main esps, and I now understand that I have had a few follower packages running initially; I got rid of some but not clear which are ones to keep.

I thought initially that this would be easy but I admit that I'm beaten on this one. Shame coz mods really make a difference.

Mods do make a difference. In this case, the difference between "works" and "doesn't work".

I'm going to say it again. Without any kind of window dressing:

Don't use FWE with FOOK2. Ever. It breaks the game. It can't be fixed. They are not friends, but bitter enemies. They kill each other. Pick ONE and never look back.

I'll also point out that EWE was made with an earlier version of EVE, and EVE has since been updated while EWE hasn't. Due to that, I have no idea if EWE will still work properly with the latest version of EWE. It may be contributing to your problems.

On top of that, Enhanced Weather seems to be inherently unstable, like all weather mods. I'm not sure what to do about it; I myself have been having all sorts of issues with it that I haven't sorted out yet.

  • 2 months later...

OK.. I know this thread has been dead for a while, but I need to ask. When do I apply the MasterUpdate? Jeoshua says here that applying MasterUpdate on Fallout Remastered screws with the mod design. I did not know this and have applied the MasterUpdate on everything in hopes of reducing CTD. Which in some ways it has. How do I exclude mods when I run MasterUpdate (other than manually moving files in and out of the folder). And where can I read up on which mods MasterUpdate can't be applied to?

I'd really appreciate some input here :)

PS.

Sorry for bumping this thread. It was the closest thing I could find on the "invisible walls/floor" bug in Mothership Zeta.
