kwangtan47 Posted December 10, 2011 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Skyrim - tips for reducing lag for PC Win XP SP3, low/mid range graphics card 1) Install FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52 or latest.In Configure Settings, set AutoFree option. Set to automatically free memory every 10 minutes. Found it to free 400MB approx. every 10 minutes. Minimize it to keep it running in System Tray. 2) Install CleanMem v2.3.1.In Control Panel->Schedule Tasks, set it to run (Repeat Task option) every 15minutes. 3) Install Nvidia latest driver if you are using Nvidia graphic card. 4) Open Nvidia Control Panel (right-click on Nvidia Settings->System Tray). Click Manage 3D Settings. In right-side, in Program Settings tab, click Add button and add tesv.exe. Scroll down and set Vertical sync to 'Force off'. Set Texture filtering - Quality to 'High Performance'. 5) Set Desktop screen resolution to 1152 by 864. 6) Start Task Manager. Keep it running and minimize it. 7) Make a backup of Skyrim_default.ini. Edit Skyrim_default.ini, add these lines [Papyrus]iMinMemoryPageSize=100000iMaxMemoryPageSize=5000000iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=1800000000 8 ) Start Skyrim. Click Option. Select Low option. Select Window Mode checkbox. Select resolution 1024 by 768. 9) Click Play and wait till the 'Continue' screen appears. Press Alt-Tab and goto Task Manager. Click Process in Task Manager. Right-click on TESV.exe and select Set Priority to High (Don't use Realtime. It will hang the system). Minimize Task Manager.
