eternalsoul2012 Posted December 10, 2011 Share Posted December 10, 2011 first off i'm learning how to mod and i don't know the first thing about how to texture,i'm using maya.i don't know where to start.cause i don't know anything about how to texture ,so i guess i'll ask questions and hopefully someone will answer. Question:i create a weapon in maya that needs to be textured,how do i get the .dds texture file? do i paint the mesh of the weapon or need to create a .dds texture file of some sort? Question:what paint program will i need? Question:how are the .dds texture files created?....from painting the mesh?from painting the mesh would be my answer.is that correct .well how are they saved as .dds file? sofmisfortune Posted December 10, 2011 Share Posted December 10, 2011 Paint.net will allow you to convert to .dds. alternatly their is an nvidia plugin for photoshopPhotoshopI use 3ds max and use uvw map and unwrap uvw modifiers to texuture.
