New Player after Skyrim - Need MOD recommendations please!

Hey guys, first, thanks for looking at this post and maybe helping me! I wanted to ask some of you expierienced guys what mods are recommended for a first time play through of Oblivion. Here is a short history, I played Skyrim on the 360 and loved it. I didn't want to play Oblivion on the 360 as it most likely looks outdated compared to Skyrim. I played New Vegas on 360 and loved it also. I recently got Fallout 3 for the PC for the same reason as why I got Oblivion for the PC, because I played the newer games on 360. Anyway, I wanted to get some mod recommendations that I can use to make the game look outstanding, maybe balance the combat and such a little better than some of the reviews I have read. Basically, I am open to anything. I just want the process to be somewhat simple and without using a mod manager. I have the GOTY edition from Steam. Thanks!!!

A good tip for new modders would be to browse through the top 100 files of all times, and find some mods there you like.

Unique Landscapes, Better Cities & New Roads and Bridges for me is a must, They make the scenery a lot better looking & less repetitive & come with so many compatibility patches.

 

FCOM is amazing but hits my computer really hard so i just use OOO+MMM & there is an awesome guide for installing it here.

now first my suggest for a new body

 

As a Body mod I would prefer a HGEC body nude (female), (male) because tons of clothing are based on this mod.

Oblivion is in my opinion the most and best modded game in the world.

good list here. +1 on the step-by-step tip. it's easy to bork your oblivion by throwing mods together. I would recommend using BOSS to clean up load ordering (it's saved me several times). also, my favorite mod lately has been Vilja -- she can really add a lot to the game. I would also recommend doing the popular graphical mods to make the environment and cities better looking (you'll be looking at them most of the time).
