GOD_XIII
:( I've been playing oblivion for a couple of months now and for some reason oblivion keeps playing up every time i try to start a new character about the time Captain Renalt dies it screws up ive located one of the problems which is a corruped music file "dungeon_02" but dont know how to fix it and the other problem is this "ActiveMovie window" Bullcrap it keeps minimizing the game during a battle which screws it up. the only mod im using is the "Unofficial_Oblivion_Patch_v2[1].2.0_Installer_Version-5296" and i have the official patch "Oblivion_v1.2.0416UK" what do i do? :(
xenxander
Shut down ALL programs when you wish to play Oblivion (Morrowind too, though to a lesser extent). Thsi includes spyware monitor programs, virus shields and programs (Like Nortan, AVG, Mcaffey, etc), and keyboard probrams. I had a creative keyboard with software for the extra keys on the left and top, that i had to shut down while playing Oblivon, because it would minimize the game randomly. and disconnect from the Internet. melkormgc
I had the same problem regarding the Activemovie window. This is what I did: I download mp3's from youtube and use them with Better Music System. Those files would have an album art attached to them and they would minimize and crash Oblivion. Even if I delete those files, somehow their "ghost" album art would linger around and crash the game. Removing the album artwork using the Mp3Tag program helps but only if I do the following: I usually keep a backup of my whole "data" folder. I delete the old data folder ("old" meaning the one with mp3's with album art that cause problems.) Then copy my clean "data" folder. And then remove the album artwork from the mp3's I want to use BEFORE moving them into my "data" folder. It will not work if you remove the album art after placing the mp3's into the "data" folder. Those of you who have activemovie windows popping up with no album art should still check your mp3's and see if you have any blank album art attached to them. EDIT: Even if you delete the album art or the files themselves the artwork still REMAINS attached to the containing folder! You have to remove that too.
