Dullahan Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Hey, Can someone tell me if this version of Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul causes CTD's whilst trying to save? I've had crashing problems with this before, and i have no idea what the hell is going on, or if it is common. OOO conflicts with almost every single modification, so finding which one is friggin it up is REALLY tasking.. But when i enter/exit buildings, the possibility that my game will crash is very high.. So what can i do about this?
xenxander Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 1.32 RC5 is the latest patch (I think) for OOO. Trouble is, as you've stated, OOO is very conflicting. Franseco and MMM try their hardest to make their mods fully compatible but still if you use all three (or even just OOO and MMM) the game becomes nicely unstable. It's just how the overhaul mods work unfortunately. I removed OOO and just kept MMM and I have a lot less of a crash problem (still minor issues though). I decided that MMM gave me more unique monster behavior without adding and changing too much in-game content, but it's whichever you prefer. also it may be with your video card. You may have the latest drivers but your card may not be officially supported. I have the old 7600GT which isn't officially supported and so there are times even in Vanilla, that Oblivion -may- crash, but that would happen to me only one in every 30 logins or so. I simply suggest either removing OOO or another larger mod. "Generally" mods like Goddess store don't conflict with OOO, as it's just adding another shop, and armor mods and/or character visual meshes (better bodies, etc) generally don't conflict with OOO, but... *shrugs*
Dullahan Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 Your help is appreciated. :) I am actually not using any other 'Overhaul' modifications, but i am thinking about just reverting back to OOO v1.3 as i didn't really experience any crashes, though I'll miss being able to summon the animals and the items from the Argonians and such. Thanks again, and have a kudos. :P
xenxander Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Thanks for Kudos! ^_^ you made my night. I had that same crash problem when I had OOO and MMM both running. I had entered the Bloated Float and everything was fine but as soon as I tried to exit, the game always crashed. This happened in several other locations too which caused me to finally give up the OOO all together. I didn’t have the issue when OOO was about the only mod I had installed though (that along with the official plug-ins) or with an earlier version (the original 1.3 before the updates). So doing what you’ve stated may help – give up the newer versions and don’t run any other overhaul mods :) Cheers.
Dullahan Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 Always aim to please. :) So you had problems with corrupt saves as well? Because i am almost certain it is OOO. Most of the crashes happen due to OOO related objects.. If i open a chest created by this, it crashes. If i get zapped by a chest trap, it crashes. If i loot a corpse from a creature added by OOO v1.32, it crashes. Meh.. Ah well, it's just a game, yes? :P
xenxander Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I never had any of those specific problems, but OOO takes many mods and combines them. It’s possible you had a mod that tried to alter something OOO did. There is “more deadly traps” that OOO improves upon and if you had that installed before hand that can cause conflicts. I don’t know about searching a monster generated by OOO (that’s not in vanilla oblivion – I can’t think of a reason for that issue). I will say that with the latest OOO & MMM, I also had axebane’s fletching and crafting mod installed. Well I presumed MMM would overwrite any files necessary and I could just remove the axebane’s ESM file and everything would be fine. Turns out that when I tried to craft anything, the game instantly crashed. Even when I finally removed axebane altogether. So I had to do a full clean sweep and reevaluate what I wanted out of Oblivion. I removed every mod except for Frostcraig and natural environments (minus the weather – just water and foliage), then I used the latest MMM stand-alone. I get crashes once in a while but nothing I cannot live with and I still get to have goblin wars and all sorts of nifty monsters.
Dullahan Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 That's cool. Regarding the Crafting modification -- Is that where you use certain tools to create robes and leather armor from pelts and yarn and cloth and stuff? I can't find that one anywhere, though i've been looking for that as well as teh mining mod.
xenxander Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Yep it's when you take pelts and make armor out of them (Or metal ore or bones for that type of armor) none of the armors you can craft are really that strong, but they are still neat (I display then with Mannequins, and I might try them out eventually when bored). fletching is a bit better, because you can make flint arrows wich are rather strong, as well as orger tooth and obsidian arrows (along with other weaker ones). the stand lone fletching mod is:Retros Fletching and Imbueing 171 Modwww.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2530 and Axebane Hunters 25 http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6918

I wish there was a way to create other stuff like furniture and stuff. :)
