blitzcreek13
First thing you need to know is im on xbox (so no console commands) So about followers...People have said that companions are set to the same level as you when you first step into the same zone. So does that mean when i first step foot into skyrim after fleeing helgen every possible companion that is in the world map is set to level 1? Or is it when i get within a certain range of them/start conversation with them? I ask because i would like to get the khajiit companion "Kharjo", and he wanders the world map with the khajiit caravans. So technically as soon as the tutorial area is over and i step foot into skyrim i am in the same loaded area as him. Does this mean is stuck at that low level forever? Also ive heard that Uthgerd the Unbroken levels with you, is there any truth to this? If so, is she the only one like this or are there others? I really appreciate any help you guys can give me :).
Ensy
I would be interested to know how this works too. I heard the same, about that they are set at a level corresponding to when you entered their 'zone' (not sure what zone is exactly). I am on pc so can use the 'getlevel' command to see what level they are. Lydia seems to be the same level as me as I level up, and so does the house carl at Solitude, they are both level 43 and so am I. Mercurio is level 40, but Eola (sp? the cannibal mage follower) she is only level 30, and I did enter the Markath area early on, before Whiterun, and Eola is in that vicinity. jy02521671
i been wondering exactly the same thing yesterday, and did a bit of research as well as self experimenting. this is what i found: 1) when you first get your companion, they will be set to match your level, this means when you get Lydia at level 10, she is also at level 102) 'legal' companions gain level as you do, this means if you got lydia at level 10, and you are now level 50, lydia is also at level 503) 'legal' companions gain experimence as soon as you level up, if you send them home and gain a level then come back, they will also have gained a level4) 'illegal' companions you get from mod or console codes, will not gain level, this means if you get a townfolk as your companion, he will always be level
