So far, what I’ve suggested hasn’t been feasible for one reason or another – I accept that.

I would simply append one of my other requests, though the topic title wouldn’t match the new mention. I am in no way attempting to forum angel posts.

Alright, if anyone has played Morrowind (most of us here), we know that when you hovered the mouse crosshair over an item, it had a small window explaining the item you were looking at. The weight, price, magical effect (if any) / armor protection / damage amount.

Can something like this be modded into Oblivion, or is the Oblivion CS too limiting in creating little visuals like that? I do not enjoy having to pick up every magical item I find just to discover its effects, and I’m certain others feel the same.

There's this mod, which centers some information of the item at the crosshair, but it doesn't show all information.

It changes the rest of the UI too though. I don't know if it's possible to only install the part you might want.

Well that's almost everything.. don't know yet if it shows magical effects or not, I'll have to install and observe.

I take it bethseda didn't add this in because no magical items are ever just lying around like they were in Morrowind - it's all leveled, and as such it means only lv.1 - lv.4(5?) loot will be on the ground and magical items are always in containers or on persons to kill and loot (and when you loot you see the items and effects if any)

but of course this doesn't work if they drop their shield / weapon when they are killed or if you disarm them.

as that is really the only instance in vanilla oblivion where you will see magical items, I suppose they felt it wasn't worth adding it in...

but with some mods out there for racks or if you just want to place your items on shelves, it's nice to hover over them to see what they are instead of quick save, pick up and check, quickload ^_^
