Mastercontrol98
- General Idea So this one will be difficult. But the idea is, the Great War had spread to the moon. Power armor, which happens to be a sealed environment suit, was used to battle the Chinese in stealth space suits on the surface of the moon in the Sea of Tranquility, in a race to take the moon for it's valuable resources and the tactical advantage of being able to deploy anywhere in the world from orbit. Both sides had established fortresses on the moon in order to sustain themselves, with the US using an underground base developed by Vault-Tec and the teleporter tech developed by the Big MT research facility to travel between the moon and the earth. The Sole Survivor, being a mad genius who happens to be able to build massive teleportation devices in his back yard, could use the teleportation array used to access the Institute for the first time to get to the moon. Meanwhile, the Chinese, building bases intended to be temporary and not long-lasting, had insufficient radiation shielding from the sun and where either ghoulified or killed. However without resources from Earth to repair their space suits, which have degraded over time, they have become slowly trapped in the ruins and half constructed outpost. Meanwhile, Vault-Tec being Vault-Tec, had discovered alien artifacts similar to those discovered by Lorenzo Cabot while digging to construct the base. They experimented with these new artifacts on captured Chinese soldiers, developing something akin to Jack Cabot's serum, allowing the soldiers to enhance their physical capabilities and live far longer than normal. - Mechanics Most interiors will be safe to wear any clothing and use any weapon you'd like. However, going outside onto the surface of the moon is a different story. Having virtually no atmosphere and usually being baked in stellar radiation, wearing anything other than a sealed environment suit will have you dead in less than a minute. If part of your power armor breaks (if you happen to be using it as a space suit) You're done. This will make maintaining and watching power armor condition a priority, as well as give increased priority to scavenging for parts to fix your armor. Certain weapons, such as the flamer, will not function or will function at a reduced capacity. Being on the moon in general will increase your carry weight due to lower gravity, as well as all the other changes that come from low gravity (lowered projectile falloff from weapons such as the Fat Man, higher jumps, slower falling.) - New gear Would reintroduce the Chinese Stealth Suit and other Chinese weapons/armor for the Sole Survivor, as well as add new weapons and tech based off of alien technology uncovered by both sides. (As far as I'm concerned, it could simply see a return from weapons from Mothership Zeta such as the alien rifle and other cool gear, just remastered for Fallout 4) We'd also see the introduction of special-built power armors for space use and combat space suits for those who don't feel like lugging around all that metal. - Enemies and characters Stealth Ghouls! These sneaky buggers are Chinese soldiers who have gone feral while wearing their stealth suits. They can ambush you at any time from the shadows. Malfunctioning robots! These bots were originally designed to fight the Chinese, but after decades of decay they are starting to target anything and everything that moves. Some of the bots are even designed to operate power armor! If you can find the up-link controlling all of them, maybe they can be used for your own purposes.. Perhaps cleansing the moon of life so that you can enjoy it in peace? The US military! Remnants of the US Military who want to complete their orders and finish off the Chinese invaders, then head home. When the main quest is completed, you can opt for them to join the Minutemen or the Brotherhood of Steel (due to their sense of duty and desire to protect the American people), if you decide to side with them. If you have opted not to cozy up to the factions they can join, they will default to wander the wastes, eventually ending up in Diamond City, if they aren't destroyed during the main quest line. Will offer a new companion who serves to be a power armor mechanic. Will be able to jury rig your power armor back to working order outside of combat, just enough to find a repair station without dying. The Chinese! Much like Zao, many of the Chinese stationed on the moon were devastated to see the end of the world from where they could do nothing to stop it. While they will fight the US to defend themselves, more than anything, they're done with war and just want to go home. Can be asked to side with the Railroad or the Institute upon completion of the main quest, due to their skills in stealth and desire to no longer be directly involved in fighting, if they are not destroyed. If they are not convinced to join a faction, they will leave for China to assess the damage and start rebuilding. Will offer a stealth suited companion who doesn't speak, and has great knowledge of alien tech from his years of espionage into both alien and US military labs. Will provide alien blaster cells, and on rare occasion, a powerful mod for your alien weapon. Aliens! After the bombs fell, the aliens began to note that the world was far less aggressive and easier to monitor from relatively nearby. They began to set up outposts on the moon as reconnaissance stations, to study the biology of Earth while remaining mostly undetected. Are always hostile, but their outposts host sweet gear that you can take for yourself. Maybe you can even figure out how they make those alien blaster cells! All companions will be available after the main quest is finished, regardless of where their parent faction ends up going. - Environments The surface of the moon. Kind of the core of all of this. The US military vault and outposts. Run down, but still mostly functional. Starting area and access to the teleporter home. The Chinese ruins. Completely run down and destroyed. Flickering lights, barely functional doors, airlocks, ect. Many skeletons and signs of fights that broke out after ghouls started to go feral and attack the survivors that were not ghoulified. The majority of the feral ghouls have since been cleared out, but some still exist in the levels that were never cleared. Alien Bases. Cool stuff inside! So long as you don't mind knocking down a few aliens to get to it. - Story I'm an awful writer. I can leave this one to the mod author. Just so long as a perfect resolution is difficult but possible, and taking sides is encouraged. Nobody should be the obvious good guy or bad guy. I feel like this could be a lot of fun, and done correctly, even lore friendly. I don't know if it's even possible, but man I think it'd be an incredible mod. Honestly, I was hoping we'd see more about the moon in a DLC. Unfortunately, this never happened. If anyone chooses to make this, please, have fun with it! Make references to fiction, feel free to be lighthearted, but I'd really hope this goes back to Fallout's roots of being able to be a total jerk or a saint. MaesterAelix
I know there was a moon mod out there for either 3 or NV - cause that was part of the Dr.Who mod. I'd love to see some of that ported over her. I want. I bump.
