I have this same error in multiple blender installations. Firstly, I used a 2.78 guide that others report to work with Skyrim nifs. Secondly, I used a mobile blender download from the Nexus which was a 2.49 setup following the recommended package / version instructions. I got the same error. And yes, I made sure that the other versions of Python, etc. were uninstalled just to make sure this wasn't due to a version mismatch issue (since the mobile blender package included everything it needed.)

I'm forced to conclude the blender niftools may not work with Fallout 4 nifs. Has anyone used blender to complete a modelling project for FO4?
