Fyrrii
I downloaded several mods, three of which made it into the mod manager (version 0.59), but all of the other ones did not. I noticed that the ones that made it in all came from compressed folders? The ones I really want eg SK Mini Qunari Hair Pack were not compressed when I downloaded them. All of my mods are in the mods folder I created and the manager is detecting three of them just fine, but the others just don't show up in the manager, what do I do? Thanks :)
Fyrrii
I solved it, if anyone's interested here's how:The mod manager was only detecting .daimod files and all my others were RAR files, so I downloaded winrar (free trial) which turns the RAR files into winRAR files. If you right click on the winRAR file and select 'open in winrar' the file should show in winrar as a .daimod file, which you can then select there and 'extract to' your mods folder. Thandal
Guys! Unpacking compressed file archives isn't a "solution", it's a basic 'puter skill. (Like "copy/paste".)But glad to hear you got it sorted.
nightscrawl
As a head's up, you'll want to use 7-Zip for your unpacking needs. It handles the common zip and rar, as well as its own 7z, which is also a commonly used format. It's open source and free. Guys! If that's the case, IMO it's understandable that they might not know they had to unpack the daimod. Thandal
<snip>I'm going to assume these folks above are used to using the Nexus Mod Manager and just loading in the compressed archive file they downloaded. If that's the case, IMO it's understandable that they might not know they had to unpack the daimod. Nope, the NMM doesn't handle DA:I mods at all. They don't even have the green "D/L with NMM" button. The only option is "Manual". And getting mods to work isn't like installing commercial products, built by professionals, who get paid for what they do, and can be expected to make it as easy as possible for players to use the results. They are amateur efforts, in the best sense of the word. They require some level of effort on the part of the user. I realize that not every player is going to become a mod author. But to me, understanding the basics of what's involved seems like table stakes if you want to play the modding game. While it was written for DA:O, most aspects of this article apply to DA:I as well: "Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies". And as for the DAI Mod Manager, see: DAI Free Tools Forum (link from the File Description here on the Nexus.) Note that, as stated above, this means actual effort on the part of the user to learn what's involved, and then to read and understand the instructions. For example: the "SK Mini Qunari Hair Pack" cited by the OP is, in fact, packaged as a .rar file when downloaded, (despite the statement that it is "uncompressed".) Whereas once unpacked, the resulting .daimod file is NOT compressed.
