Northborn
I'm trying to figure out how to hide the character's hair with a new helm item in TESSnip. I know skyrim adds a special hairstyle when a caracter with long hair wears a hood, and that it has one when the head is hidden entirely for closed face helms. The issue is that I'm using a hood, so I cannot hide the full helm, but the game leaves the special hairstyle, which clips though the top. Is there a version that leaves the top of the head hairless (possibly with a whole) so that it doesn't clip through? Does anyone know what part of information I need to change inside TESSnip? Skree000
wont help you at the moment, but in the Construction Kit (released soon), there is a checkbox on armor which tells the game what to hide when worn, for helms/helmets there is an option to hide hair. (or something of the equivalent, if memory serves)

punxdog
A thought. Since the standard helmets hide the hair, why don't you just replace the graphics for a standard helmet, then reassign the id number so it's unique?
gamergirl109
I'm trying to figure this out as well... for my replacer for the Dragonscale helm. I'm guessing, there has to be a flag code to hide the hair.. I just don't know what it is... =\
throttlekitty
Unfamiliar turf here, but doesn't TESSnip show you all the data when looking at a record? If so, compare and contrast is your friend.

If so, compare and contrast is your friend. I'm sure it does.. but I have no idea what all the flags mean/do... Screenshot to show what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/H8Toy.jpg I'm sure one of those check boxes or there's a flag code that hides the hair, but no idea which one. I"m kind of afraid to try, because knowing me I'll screw up my game....
punxdog
Well like I said, replace the model of an existing helmet and you don't have to worry about the flags that you don't know about. In 'MOD2' just reassign where you want it to point to, ie the path. In the top 'right' of the box you have a pic of is formid, change that to something that isn't being used. I suggest adding a letter up the front and then doing a search through the skyrim.esm to see if there's nothing else there. Obviously assign the texture too. ZeroTorrent
It's not the flags that you want. Most of the data on the visuals are either found in the BODT data or by following the MODL data to an ARMA entry. I've messed around a bit, but not with the hair, so I can't tell you exactly where to find the value that needs to be changed, but BODT is a good starting point. Report your findings back. I'm curious to know as well.
gamergirl109
Well, I played around a bit in the BODT stuff like you suggested, but couldn't find anything to deal with the hair and somehow managed to change the name of the helm to gibberish (fixed it by deleting the .esp i made). Think I'll just deal with the clipping until the CK comes out... trying to figure out TESsnip is giving me a headache, lol
