vampirefaeries
I just joined the forums today and I'm a computer idiot , but I LOVE Oblivion. I played it on the 360 1st , glitched at lvl 48. :wallbash: Then got it for the PS3, not bad, but my controller sucks. Anyway, all of the mods were so cool I had to get it for the PC. So I download these mods and I have no idea what to do now. I figured out how to unzip (or whatever its called). Downloaded WINRAR & 7Z but I can't figure out how to get them in my game. I tried obmm & actually got them activated but they still aren't in my game. Am I missing a step here? If anyone has time for a little tutoring I would really appreciate it. I need someone to give me a little shove on this computer stuff. I'm learning more day by day but I'm still really lost. Please help this b00b step up to n00b. Did I say "I" a little too much? Oh yeah, it is all about me. If it's not too much trouble? just answer here. :thanks:

xenxander
Modding the game, when it doesn’t require specific Construction Set alterations or specific renaming of files, is extremely easy. Using OBMM makes it even easier if you use mods formatted for it, but even if your mods aren’t omod ready, you can always manually install. Readme’s come with every respectable mod (unless it’s a beta release, etc) and will tell you ‘how to’. You can even use OBMM to make OBMM files using the “create” function with existing mods in their *.zip or *.rar format, though you generally have to manually input info such as the readme, author, and “about”, as well as put your own pics in (if desired) for the thumbnail…. Anyway… The oblivion ‘data’ folder is in the /Oblivion directory (/Oblivion/data) and it’s where just about every mod goes. The one exception is using OBSE (oblivion script editor), which is extracted into the /Oblivion folder directly. OBSE is needed for some mods to work, but as you’re so new, work on very simple mods first. Start with a simple mod, such as “Gather ye rosebuds” or “harvest rings” or “animal rings” and read the readme.txt in the archive. And remember, if a mod is causing a malfunction, deleting the mod is usually nothing more than just deleting every sub-directory in the /oblivion/data folder (for all mods installed) as well as deselecting their .ESM files either using the “data files” options using the ‘in game menue’ or by using OBMM or wyrebash to remove specific meshes / textures associated with certain mods (if you have a lot running)
ResidentWeevil2077
Did you maybe try to actually take the files out of the .RAR and .7Z files first?
bben46
Read the pinned topic 'How to Install Plugins/Mods' here http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=21998 There is a lot of good info in the pinned topics. It will save you having to wait for one of the gurus of Oblivion to reply to a post. Also, if you don't see what you are looking for try the search function located at the bottom of the pages. If you still can't figure it out, post back here and some one will help.Welcome to tesnexus
vampirefaeries
I want to Thank everyone that has helped me in the last weeks. I am now downloading and installing mods like crazy. By the way, I have always read all the Read Me Files, from day one. But they didn't make a lot of sense before. I always new about extracting files from my zip and rar programs, I just didn't know about the different folders, files and I sure didn't understand what ESP's were etc...Well, that's all changed thanks to the nice community on the Nexus. Thank You Everyone! VampireFaeries
