maym_001
Hey. So, I'm pretty new to modding (I literally started this afternoon, just been playing around with GECK) and I've got a couple of questions. I'm basically trying to do an almost complete weapon replacement, swapping the majority of the vanilla weapons with models from mods. My aim is to have every single projectile weapon (I'm not touching energy weapons) look, feel, sound and act like a real world weapon, using it's closest real world counterpart. So, for example, I'm replacing the 10mm SMG with an MP5K. This is just for me, mind you, I don't ever intend to release it. Unless people think that it would be a good idea? Firstly, I can't seem to be able to change the silenced gunshot sound, or put one in for a weapon that didn't previously have a silencer. Am I missing something here? The only thing I can see so far is the 'attack sound' section under the Mod Info tab. I know that's where they're supposed to go, because I've checked the weapon that are already silenceable. But whenever I try and stick a sound in there, I get no sound at all in-game. Secondly, I know this is a problem that others have been having, but using the Recoil mod (http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41833) with some of these modded weapons makes the guns walk directly right instead of up and right like it should be. Did anyone ever find a fix for this? Thanks in advance for your help. Remember, every modder has to start somewhere, so please be patient with me if it seems to you that I'm being incredibly stupid. ;D Edited December 12, 2011 by maym_001
wektis
I haven't really played around with weapon mods so it could be a bucket list of problems. The only thing that comes to mind from my experience is the sound file. Is it in the correct format? (and sorry no, I can't recall right now exactly what the correct format is >< )

Heffy
I think there was something about such silencer mods having to be the first mod in the list. Not sure whether it's the case but maybe try it. As for the sound format, it should be a PCM wav file, mono for the 3d version and stereo for the 2d version of the sounds. As for the frequency, most of the original sounds I've had a look at were 44100 (you can use less, though, I've used 32000). Also, check the settings in the sound declaration in geck.
