Are there any mods that change how foraging works?

I'm looking for mods that change how foraging works in Oblivion.

There are two main things I want changed...

  1. "You found nothing of use" when you can clearly see what you would've found right on the thing you're foraging on. (AKA "How did I not get a Bolete Cap off that when I can see it's right there?")
  2. Things you forage through don't change appearance afterward, which can cause confusion on what you've foraged when you've got twelve plants all in a bunch. Found this one.

Anyone have any mods that would work for that? I'll take anything from single-thing changes to full blown overhauls, as long as it has one or both of those things above.

Edit: Found #2, so I guess #1 is the only one I'm looking for now.

for the first one, just search 'Harvest' in the Oblivion site

there are at least 5 mods that give 100% harvest chance, so you can choose the one you want

as for the second point, i'm actually not familiar with a mod that does this, though i'm pretty sure such a mod exists, just can't point you towards it

but i would suggest you to search the site a bit, or google your query

both usually bring up results quite easily

In case someone is not yet (for some reason) aware, the solution to number two is Harvest Flora: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2037

Just dropping the name here since the original poster did not add it to the post after finding it. As for the first point (100% harvest chance), you can set that in the Bashed Patch - as well as set the messages displayed when harvest is a success or failure. When rebuilding the Bashed Patch (in Wrye Bash):

  • Tweak Assorted -> Harvest Chance [100%] (right-click, select 100%)
  • Tweak Settings -> Msg: Harvest Failure [[<msg>]]
  • Tweak Settings -> Msg: Harvest Success [[<msg>]]

Having a separate .esp file for harvest chance is therefore not necessary, even if there were lots of them available. Bashed Patch would be loaded last, and the tweak(s) can be built in it. The same goes for the UOP vampire face bug fix that is also available when building the Bashed Patch. Handy. :smile:

Hopefully that helps a little. Keeping the load order small usually helps with managing it, too, from what I have noticed. Not having a huge brain capacity and all that. :blush:
