older PC

I recently installed Oblivion on my PC, it worked but the graphics was set really

low and game play was very laggy. :wallbash:

Is there any mods to increase performance but lower graphics other than using the

options menu.

My PC specs are this

CPU: AMD Athlon 1.73GHz socket 462 Processor

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 5500 FX 256MB VRAM

RAM: 512MB DDR SDRAM

Hard Drive: Western Digital 500GB using a PCI SATA to IDE converter

Sound Card: Soundblaster 5.1 Live

Disk Drive: 16x DVD-RW Dual layer Drive

I don't have the money right now to buy a newer better PC

o_O OK, you seriously need to buy a new computer - that setup is much too old to play games from even 4 or 5 yrs ago. Because you claim you don't have the $$$ to buy a new rig, the only thing I can suggest is Streamline. It clears the cell buffers more efficiently, and adjusts your visuals on the fly. I personally don't use it (my new rig might change mind), but this is about the only thing you could use. It requires OBSE in order to run.

I hope you don't think my comments are harsh, but that setup really is much too old for anything. Don't worry though - my mum's friend has a computer that's over TEN yrs old :teehee: He only uses it for word processing anyway  BTW, if you check out my profile, you'll see that my setup is quite good. I paid about $1700CDN (around $1300USD) for it, so you needn't worry about getting something that will put a major dent in your wallet :D

Perhaps your dad's comp is suffering from Alzheimer's and "Processor Disease"? :P (That's the equivalent of heart disease)

Nah, heart disease is closer to a bad power supply.

Then most likely it's just bad brains :P
