If you Flashed the Bios ? then the graphics drivers right now need to be backed up and then removed, windows needs to update the hardware drivers after that, then you can reinstall the graphics driver for the Nvidia stuff afterwards.

I'm really not sure what you mean, sorry. I mean, I know how to uninstall graphics drivers - I just don't understand how that relates to updating the BIOS and windows updating hardware drivers.

I installed games for windows live. is that it? it didn't say anything about directx while installing.

any time you cahnge anyting in a Bios, all the hardware settings change, that includes graphics Ramdac internal / VGA things, that means some code will not be right.

Most of the time we don't even notice these things, how ever, your issue as laid out here points to a hardware change..follow me?

I look at the dxdiag output log and see it. Windows will install all data correctly if it is supported, but that means when the hardware is all set first.

IF you change hardware things, well then the system will not be synced.

Like I said, you can leave it as a discussion or plan things to fix the issue, if you had not installed an updated bios? and just flashed it instead?

Bottom line is, you made changes...those changes are specific and do in fact tell a story.

If the changes, flashing was done due to this issue? then the issue has already been discovered here, you said it refuses to install dx 32bit code where it should not refuse. (x86) is where the code is placed, it can't refuse to install it, but if it does, something you did caused it to refuse to allow it to install.

windows 10 is NOT user friendly, not at all, and you are not alone in this matter, but the story told so far shows very little is required to fix the issue.

it has to allow 9c to install. IF not, something is very wrong.

Please try this (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48128)

Client Hyper-V is the virtualization technology built into Windows 10 and Windows 8.x. It is the same virtualization technology previously available only in Windows Server. Client Hyper-V enables you to run more than one 32-bit or 64-bit x86 operating system at the same time on the same host computer. But instead of working directly with the computer’s hardware, the operating systems run inside a virtual machine (VM). Hyper-V enables developers and IT professionals to easily maintain multiple test environments. It also provides a simple mechanism to quickly switch between these environments quickly.

alright, thanks for the clarification. I'll go ahead and install new drivers anyway - but the flashing of the BIOS shouldn't be treated as a possible cause for the underlying issue in fallout 4. I flashed the BIOS only yesterday, and this issue was present long before that.

to clarify, this is what happened with 9c: I downloaded directx 9c from directly from the microsoft download hub, and then I ran the setup. upon running the setup, it instantly displayed this message: You must be running windows 98, windows millennium edition, windows 200, windows xp or windows server 2003 family to install the directx 9.0.

edit: trying the hyper v thing now + reinstalling drivers.

edit2: Hyper-v doesn't appear to be available on my version of windows 10. both the powershell and control panel methods failed to find any presence of Hyper-v

Ok, so the data you obtained is incorrect, so if you own Fo3? or NV game ,the data you need to run will be in their perspective folders, the correct versions.

A lot of support for windows is just plain obsolete and unobtainable now. With out people such as I, you won't have the needed support for what's to come yet and current things.

Every one on the planet has been placed into a position of ambiguity and loss. We are the peeons left to fend for our selves.

But the games CD's and distributions for them, support software's are in the games, obsolete things like "Live" MS decided to remove leaves you in the dark.

Be smart, out smart their agenda's that force you to comply to their bidding's.

If you need the dx, the correct version? i do have it on my servers, I can PM the link for 9c 2009 vintage.
