myounage
Using 2x 6870s and an i7 920 I get about 25 fps outdoors and in towns average. Going down to low settings from ultra + tweaks I get 35 average. Okay, read that the CPU can be a problem. Turned off hyperthreading on my i7 920 and overclocked to 3.4GHZ from 2.66GHZ stock settings. 2-3, maybe 3-4 fps difference. Don't believe the lies. And yes, I'm using 11.11C and Skyrim is being recognized by the drivers. Edited December 14, 2011 by myounage
InAComaDial999
What if you disable Crossfire? I'm playing on a i7 920 non overclocked, with a 5870, and I get 60fps almost everywhere on High.

stconquest
Your CPU/Graphics Card are fine. It probably has something to do with your unique setup. Have you dusted out your PC in the last 6 months? I am running a Phenom II 1055t @3.8 and a single ATI 5850. I max out all vanilla settings, including max draw distance and stuff, and is am still locked in at 60 FPS over 95% of the time. The only time I have truly taxed my system is when I install some ENB fx settings.
Lius
Oh wow, and right here i was thinking about cross firing my 6870, now im discouraged. Do you use any HD textures myounage? But like others have said my single 6870 runs Skyrim on Ultra with minimum effort, besides towns and high populated areas, 60+ FPS.
myounage
Yeah, I do use texture mods but it makes no performance difference. I also dusted out the case. Like I said, I get 50-60 fps in maxed BF3 (only 4x AA not 8x).

You can't believe how disappointed I am. I've tried a number of fixes and nothing has helped. Going to give the 12.1 preview drivers a try now. If I notice any improvement I'll make an edit, but I have low expectations. Edit: No change with 12.1 drivers. tek5828
Yeh i'm on HD 5870 XFX, 12gb DDR3 1600mhz, intel i7 960 @ 3.2ghz (defullt) in window mode,@ 1200x800, ULTRA, i get 20-40fps outside (at place where you chose your 'stone' (warrior, mage, theif) etc. I haven't dusted out my case in a while, aswell as I have about 30gb left on my HDD, so i'm thinking about reformatting my PC, and cleaning the case. will that increase performance? Because someone else on my local forums (big D), who has a 4890, runs skyrim high/ultra at around 60fps, at 1920x1080 .. not fair ;(

Oh wait wait, maybe its because AMD hasnt put out OPTIMIZED crossfire support for the 2x 6870 yet? I dont know but hearing this makes my heart so heavy :c I just showed my granny the second 6870 card and said thats what i wanted for x mas. Now what the hell am i suppose to do. Was trying to find a cost effective way to gain performance until the 7xxx series next year; now im like screwed. UGH!
