Obellisk9
So I've been modding my Bethesda games for a while but a while ago something went wrong with my NV setup and, after a long time of troubleshooting, I gave up. I came back to mod it again and I feel much more competent in doing so now but I can't get it working. Whenever I start a new game it crashes (menu is good and opening scene is good). I usually install mods manually but this time around I used FOMM for all of them and LOOT to organize my order. Any suggestions or advise would be great. Thanks! dubiousintent
Sounds like a "Missing Master" problem. See this entry in the wiki article "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. Other things to check are in the "checklist" at the top. That load order doesn't look right to be from LOOT, which can copy your actual sorted LO into a list suitable for posting on forums. (It's under the ":" with three dots to the extreme right in it's menu bar.) You might want to also look at the wiki article "FNV General Mod Use Advice". -Dubious-
JoKelly
some of the mods in your list do not play well with others, Missing masters usually cause the hang up as the game loads. if your having the problem during the doc mitchell stage or as you leave his place, try disabling all mods, start the new game, create the new character, do a hard save after leaving his house then enable your mods ( a few at a time) at that point, you will be able to narrow it down to which ever mod it is causing the problem. I had that happen and it turned out to be caused by a merged plugin mod.
Obellisk9
I can't get into Doc Mitchell's because of the CTD before it even loads in after the opening cut scene. Also I can confirm in fact this is the load order my LOOT has set my list to. I tried editing the load order in my appdata folder but I don't think that did anything to the order. Seeing as I cant find the actual file I'm at a loss myself. I looked over the list and all masters and compatibility patches are present to my knowlege and load order (after manual editing) seems fine albeit hasn't been applied for aforementioned reasons. I really don't know what the problem might be.
JoKelly
the only thing you can do at this point, I know it sucks, is to disable all your mods, then start the game. if that works then it is definitely a mod causing your problem. at that point start adding mods back, a few at a time and see if you have a CTD. also if you haven't done it, go to your steam library and verify you local files. Some people have said that ENB has caused CTDs on start up, you might want to check that too. did you update your drivers or windows recently? some updates have caused CTD's. Obellisk9
I disabled all mods and still CTD. I just realized though I didn't have ArchiveInvalidator for FNV running, rather FO3, when installing mods so that might be the problem...
dubiousintent
Unfortunately, "ArchiveInvalidation" is unlikely to help with a CTD. All that does is cause the game to use "loose" files installed by mods (where they exist) instead of the vanilla ones in the BSA file. Your "merge.esp" file suggests you manually created it. If so, load it into FNVEdit and see if it reports any "missing masters". If "disabling" all mods (including your "merge.esp" file) doesn't help, then you need to "uninstall" them because some mod overwrote a vanilla file and it broke things. In which case, load and test one at a time. -Dubious-
Obellisk9
Will do. Probably just going to reinstall everything manually
