Robots to require fusion cores

I'd really love to see a mod that makes robots from Automatron DLC use power (like fusion cores). As it is, I believe robots are overpowered (I'm level 20 and even non-upgraded Ada makes other companions redundant, she's more resilient, superior melee power, superior carrying weight... I imagine starting to upgrade her would be even more balance breaking IMO). If there was some penalty to using them, I would only consider taking them on a dangerous preplanned raids.

I'm not sure if this can be done without scripts, if so, I might consider making such a mod myself.

If you're willing to run with a one-time cost in creating the robots, as opposed to a running cost where you have to replenish a robot's fusion core from time to time, you could do this pretty easily by simply changing the recipes for different robot parts to make fusion cores a requirement.

To make it a running cost, however, would be a different matter entirely. The closest thing I can think of that MIGHT work may be to script a periodic shutdown of the robot until you use a Robot Repair Kit on it, and then create a recipe where you can make Repair Kits at a workbench and include Fusion Cores as part of the cost.

Some of this might already be the case. I honestly don't know, as I haven't done much messing around with robots outside of building them for supply lines. But hopefully those ideas give you some options. Good luck! :)

Thanks for the input, Flowerguy. The running cost suggestion looks good, though I already see I would also need to remove Robot Repair kits from loot or nerf their spawn rates *a lot*. Because right now they're all over the place (like Stimpaks).

I'd take a gander at the LVLI Form Use Count and see what all it's in, then remove them from some leveled lists (if that's where that problem lies). I'd suggest trying to see which leveled list it is a part of that is the most ubiquitous and remove it from only that one. You really don't want to start messing with a whole bunch of leveled lists or you may cause problems with other mods (it is generally a good idea to touch as few vanilla Forms as possible to maximize compatibility). Let me know how it turns out. :)
