Nutulator
Hi, I'd like to know how would you exactly map specular maps? Fallout 4 specular maps aren't like others I've seen--the red, green, and blue channels are a bit confusing. Here is my diffuse texture--what would I need to do to it, to make it game ready? I have Gimp and AwesomeBump. Thanks. Edited October 26, 2016 by Nutulator
EveningTide
They define the objects shininess in light/dark areas. http://wiki.splashdamage.com/index.php/Specular_Maps Nevermind. I see you know what they are and how to make them(for other games). Yes Beth's modeling team took a different approach with FO4. RaffTheSweetling
I believe, like the normal maps, you need to use the option 3D filter in Photoshop CS6 Extended (filters>3D) and select specular map or normal map from the items in that option list. My CS6 lacks 3D filter options, so I can't tell you how to do it myself, but YouTube has tutorials.
Nutulator
Thanks for the replies, guys. I found the alpha channels right next to the layer tabs, how could I miss that... this is why you shouldn't mod when you're sick! Apparently the RGB channels are used for the specularity, this little guide helped.
