Hi all I'm new to moding skyrim so I could use some help, I have browsed the moding part of the Nexus forum and have found out quiet a few things already and should be able to mod fine by myself soon, but this being my first model and textures for skyrim I thought someone that has done this before should do it for now.

hear is the weapon, and some samples of the textures.

Any mods you could recommend to a Skyrim noob would be cool to, but nothing to large cos I'm on satellite internet, under 500 mb would be best thx.

Looks like a good start. The proportions are nice, and with a bit of polishing I think it could look pretty good.

Some feedback: should the grain for the stone texture be going in different directions? If you want the head to look like it was hewn from a single block of stone, then the grain should be more consistent. Also, the end of the handle looks a little odd - first of all it looks untextured, and secondly it just changes into wood without any kind of attachment or fitting in evidence. Last of all, should the bands around the top of the shaft be covering up the design? Can you incorporate them into the design somehow?

As for mods, it depends what you think the vanilla game is lacking. What do you dislike about it so far?

Hi CampanaAliquanta and thanks a lot for your comments I will most likely immediately fix all the things you mentioned, than post a new pic.

the only thing that really bothers me atm is the fact that I cant dress my followers, >:( I would so use a mod that fixes that. :woot:

I'm also going to have a look at what I need to fix it up my self so any programs that I should know about

I am very good at modeling so in the future my services might become available to the moders hear that are looking for modelers and texture artists, but I'm still busy making other mods atm (the Supreme commander 2 Revamp mod on moddb feel free to check out my work there). I'm not shore posting a link to it would be the appropriate thing to do so I wont :ermm: but none the less its an epic mod.

This hammer will probably be the first of a few weapons I will do, ;)

That's looking pretty snazzy ^^

I think the issue with the ball at the end is that where it's attached to the shaft makes it look a bit fragile, like it might snap off. I think it's partly an illusion caused by the bulge further up. Not sure how you'd fix that though.

Anyway, this thread has links to various different tutorials that explain how to export from 3ds and put things in the game.

That hammer was awsome, is the head supposed to be stone or metal? If it's stone then reflections are abit to much unless the hammer are supposed to be wet at all times that is.

Other than that, great work, that one looks a lot better than many of the hammers ingame.

looks neat. :)

@Sk8on yup, if you drop the spec on the rock-parts it would read better as a different material, standing apart from the metal bindings holding the stone.

critique-wise looks very cool, great details, i would just get rid of that bottom-all wood part and make the part wiht the wraps go right into the pommel. (unless of course you are restricted to a specific length for two handed polearms and hammer instruments)

great design, love the metal binding at the top

edit:

Also id fill the backround of any diffuse or specular map 128x128x128 grey, because at lower mips of those textures youll see insane sparkles or white artifacts, since low resolution textures will cause edge-bleed around all of your UV islands.

128 grey is safe because its the middle ground between the highs and lows, usually.
