What video card for Skyrim (and my PC specs)

I've got a HP Pavilion (p6142p) which is AMD Quad-core/8gb pc2-6400 ram/new (not factory) 600w PSU/new (not integrated) XFX Radeon 5450HD 2gb video card

I am looking for a new video card that can run Skryim and other games of its era on ultra or better. My budget is $200 tops.

Any suggestions? Is it possible with that budget? Thanks!

I have the Radeon HD 6870 and loving it. I only have a Dual Core and a 2.8 ghz Intel with 8 gig RAM (Win7-64) and it runs really smooth. Not on Ultra, but near.

Just read a post on YouTube I think it was in which the person said Skyrim is CPU based too...using a Phenom x4 at 2.3GHz will that cause any issues? Or is that plenty of speed?

I'm really curious as to what people are using to run on Ultra at 60 fps. I overclocked my GTX 470 to 745 core speed, and my i7 2600k at 4.4 ghz. On max everything at 1920 x 1080 I am definitely not at 60 fps. The game runs pretty damn good, but still isn't perfect.

should work, amd quad phenom 9600 BE myself and the game runs at 1080p max settings fine (no AA, just don't like it). 2.3GHz stock mild OC to 2.4GHz.

edit:

game ini tweaks: tree and landscape self shadows, 1024 water maps

card gt 430 1GB (ha $30 card on sale when i bought it) stock gpu core 700MHz, oc 825MHz

5970 'black edition'

10GB ram (yes 10, triple channel=

i7 930 at 4GHz

I can run it on max with some graphical mods, not constant 60 fps, but above 30-40 all the time

Also I'm sure skyrim is more of a GPU game, as my gpus both cores are on 90-100% load most of the time, while my cpu is only on 40%-60%

I have a 3.2Ghz Phenom II Quad-Core, and I still notice some issues. My GTX 460 isn't performing as well as I'd like either (it should run on ultra according to a youtube video, but I have it med-high). I think it's a memory leak; my framerate runs at 60+ fps at first, capped by vsync, but plummets after I enter and exit a few cells. Edited by Rennn
