jhelzei
I have a budding 40th level illusionist who's running into level limits on the effectiveness on master-level spells. Oddly, Harmony affects only up to level 33 enemies. OTOH, a dual-cast Apprentice spell (Fear) can affect enemies that the Master spell cannot. There are some mods that are supposed to address this imbalance. I tried "Better Magic", which has worked for me in the past, but recent versions seem to cause CTDs when the modded spells are cast on large numbers of enemies. So I decided to fire up the Creation Kit and see if I could rectify the situation. Magnitude seemed to be the appropriate value to modify, so I doubled the magnitude on Harmony from 25 to 50. Sure enough I can now pacify Draugr Death Overlords with Harmony. However, Harmony no longer works on low level enemies. What the heck? The spell description states that up to level 58 will be affected by Harmony, but low level enemies like plain Draugr and city guards are not affected. BTW, the character does have the Master of Mind perk, which allows illusion spells to work on undead. I've noticed that there seems to be other ways to affect level scaling. Vampires, for example, can increase the effective level of illusion spells, but I haven't worked out exactly how the level scaling works or how it's applied. I'm also not sure how you'd implement it to apply to all races, or at certain player level tiers. Any suggestions would be appreciated...
