To further elaborate do this:

1.Load Steam.
2.From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3.Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache button.
4.Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
5.Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

Important: One or more files may fail to verify.

This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

i have the same issue with the nexus mod manager when i run it says i have no ini files showing.but when i click documents my games fallout 4 i do have a fallout4. ini an a fallout4prefs. ini.i was able to get what i needed pasted in the fallout4pref. ini file.but i dont see any fallout4 custom ini anywhere so i can paste what i need into the archive so i can mod fallout 4 using nmm.i looked in folders for steam apps common also.i even tried validating the game still no change are custom ini showing.i just had to reset my computer recently so everything was removed an restarting over again.using the windows 10 anniversary edition update so i dont know if theres a way to get around not having the fallout4 custom ini are should i reinstall the game but being this is a new install i dont know if that would change anything. thank you

Go to C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4Custom.ini. If there is no Fallout4Custom.ini use Notepad to create one. You should be good to go.

So i assume this issue is a problem you get through a manager. Have you tried a manual install?

If a manual method works then maybe your manager is installing to the wrong folder.

how do i manually install the fallout4 ini file is there a mod for it because i was under the impression that the file was suppost to be made the first time u run the game but that did'nt happen so i dont think this is a modding or modmanager issue but more of a game bug issue and it seems fallout4 still has alot of bug that need to be worked out but if there are mods that can solve any of the above problems please send me a link to where i can find them

  • 3 weeks later...

i finally found the fallout4.ini file, it got put in some random folder somewhere because apparantly fallout4 does that stuff on occasion but now i gotta get my modmanager to recognize it somehow because its still saying i dont have it even do i put it into my fallout4 folder with my other ini files, also im still having the lockpicking issue so if any1 knows of some way to solve this please help a guy out?

edit: Hé my problems fix'd, bethesda said it was just a resolution issue apparantly fallout4 has some problems with my resolution but as soon as i changed it my ini file got recognized by the mod manager and i even had good lockpicking again. Now if i could only get my clothing mods to work that would be hot
