position 3D models in TES

I am making nifs for the TES and assigning them to body part's inorder to create a body for my own race. The bigest problem I get is when I put them in their like twenty feet away and in the air and I have to position them in 3DsMax to get them in the right place. This takes a real long time, because I keep going from 3DsMax to the TES and have to close the TES everytime I see where the body part is on the model so the next time it change and will be updated in the TES. I spent all day just doing the upper half of my model, most of the time was positioning. Please tell me there's a eaiser way.

I already knew that but when the position is off in 3DsMax they end up way off in TES I will assign a hand to the hand and when putting on a model it's way off, so I move in 3DsMax to get it in the right place.

EDIT//

I think I found a way to do it easier, make a bogus nif like a sphear or somthing and load it to the TES, then assighn it to what you want, it will be off. Then go open the 3DsMAX (assuming thats what your using) and delete your bogus mesh. Then with your mesh making cursor on the two dark intersecting lines where they meet, darg your mesh, it should be very clost to where it needs to be, at least the last couple I made where. your real mesh should be at the center of all four windows when you make it. Also I noticed that ushally when you have to reajust you never go far from the center of the windows with your mesh. I hope this is it.

owk sorry the link didn't worked...goto google and type in the search area NIF Importer Tutorial and the first search result is the pdf which I tried to give you...it's about making the head of the Dagoth Ur playable...and there is some info about getting it in the right position :)

Edit: WOW :o the link which KublaKarma gave of the same site is very good...There's a tutorial about making glowing weapons and such veeery usefull :D

2nd edit: Hey Acrid I've read (well tried to read) a tutorial it was also in jibabadoey lanquage :P but it was about making a head...and from the other tuts I noticed that you must use affect pivot, only center to object actions orso but after that there were some coördinates: X=0 Y=0.715 Z=52.112 (that's only for the head so mabey (I dunnoh...gonna try it after I posted this message) that is the exact position for your head....
