Remastered: Underwhelming?

So you have not tested SE in person? If you have all kinds of mods than you probably also have the DLC entitling to a free download?

I spent a couple of hours checking it out, then uninstalled, and went back to my setup on the original. The audio demastering (literally, not metaphorically) was discovered and investigated by somebody else. Maybe the way I mentioned it made it sound like I hadn't looked at the remaster.

i do NOT understand a lot of the negativity. To me its a big step forward.

a lot of ppl just had totaly off expectations, no wonder they are dissapointed.

If you don't use ENB, that explains why it looks good to you. For me, Skyrim was significantly better in 2012/2013, with high res textures, meshes, and ENB. Skyrim Remastered is a console release. And I think it's great that you can run it and see an improvement. But that offers nothing for the large number of folks with better hardware.

The textures were *upsampled* (and not even all of them, many were skipped). A modder who did that now would be ridiculed and the mod would be ignored and forgotten. Bethesda did that and people are praising them. It's amazing to me that people expect less of Bethesda than they do from the average modder.

Most games that release remasters actually remaster them, as in improving textures, audio, etc. Bethesda didn't. Why do you think they Skyrim is free on PC, when they're charging console users?

Seems to me that, sometimes, folks like to get onto a new version of a game just so they can

have a go at a new modding effort. Mod making becomes the goal rather than gameplay.

As for me, if a mod doesn't enhance gameplay in some way that's significant, then I don't use it.

My guess is that many of those who jump on the "...Remastered" bandwagon will be doing so

just on the off chance that they'll be able to tweak the new version. I dunno, maybe they're

seeking a new opportunity to test their skills.
