RemaD
Hi, I am new to this site and forums, I am having a little trouble with some particular mods. I have managed to get such things as glowing ore and enhanced blood working by using mod manager, however I have attempted to also install ValCraftingMeltdown, Lost Art of the Blacksmith and More craftables, yet despite saying they were 'installed successfully' I do not see any additional smithing options in game. I also clicked Reset Archive Invalidation too and that didn't fix it etiher, I'm not sure what else to try. PS. I used console to max smithing to 100 and add all smithing perks to see if that unlocked anything either, which it didn't
MShoap13
Did you activate the plugins via NMM? If so, and the mods still aren't working, you can try finding the \Skyrim\ folder at C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Application Data\ on XP or C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\ on Vista/7 and making it writable by unchecking the "read only" tick mark box under it's properties. If that doesn't help my next step would be to rule out UAC as the culprit. This is my general post on UAC: If you're on Vista/7, Steam (and therefore Skyrim) is installed in the default (C:\Program Files) location, and you're having problems with replacers or simply mods (plugins) not working at all, even though you've activated them in NMM, or mods refusing to deactivate, even though all of their files have been removed, then you most likely have a UAC problem. It is possible to turn off UAC though it's not recommended for the vast majority of Windows users. To get around UAC without turning it completely off you'll need to move Steam to a location UAC does not affect (C:\Games\ is a commonly used location). This will most likely break any 3rd party utilities such as NMM as it will leave old registry keys behind that point to the location you originally installed Skyrim in. If you come across this issue, you'll have to uninstall Skyrim, clean the old registry keys, reboot, then reinstall Skyrim. I personally recommend using Revo Uninstaller as if you uninstall Skyrim through it, it will automatically scan for and ask if you'd like to delete old registry keys. If you're interested in keeping your old mods, config files, and/or saved games, tips found in Bben's Oblivion Reinstall Procedure work for Skyrim as well. RemaD
Thank you for the info, unfortunately neither of those options managed to fix my problem though. Could it be because of the recent 1.3 patch that was released? *edit* I think i have cracked it, despite using NMM, i had to edit my skryimpref ini's with some code, managed to enable the data files option on the launcher and then ticked 'loose files'. Doesn't seem to be as much content as the mod description described however that could be due the to the fact im only level 4 with low smithing, ill see how that goes.. Thanks! MShoap13
I remember v1.2 broke some crafting mods though I believe they've all been updated to work with it. To my knowledge v1.3 did not contain any UI alterations though I could be wrong.
