Experience Modder's Help Needed

Recommended Posts

im looking for an experienced modder that would be willing to help me learn how to make mods for skyrim. ive seen alot of awesome mods thats given me quite a few ideas. unfortunitly, coding and all that isnt my strongest point. i have alot i need to learn, and if someone is willing to help me learn to make mods, maybe we can start doing mods together... I am NOT looking to make money of this, just want to start sharing my ideas with everyone..

i do not know if these kinds of posts are acceptable or not (if not, feel free to delete this post).

i hope someone can help, so can bring my ideas to life and share them with the world. ^_^

Learning "modding" is a broad subject.... A good place to start learning ck and scripting is the official creationkit site: http://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

My personal recomendation (which applies to more than just modding) would be to go through some of the beginner tutorial to learn the basics and then just jump into making stuff and solve the problems you find in your path, In other words, look for a bandage when you have wound instead of turning yourself into a mummy before going to battle.

I see a lot of people approach learning (specially languagues) in a too theoretical way that is, in my opinion, ineficient, the best way is usage.

Yep, I'd second Frank's suggestion to follow the basic tutorial's on the CK wiki page. It's also a great guide for when you get to scripting and such. Just focus on getting familiar with the parts of the CK and start making a house interior; that's the simplest way to get right into it. Just play around and see what it all does. Save often. The hardest part bar none when you are first learning is knowing what to look for when troubleshooting an issue. That part drove me mad because how can you solve a problem when you don't know what the thing is called? lol. But stick to it and you'll figure stuff out. People are always really helpful on here when you ask clear questions, explain what you are trying to accomplish and give indications that you've tried on your own and just can't get over that hump for some reason.

There are a lot of good guides on TESAlliance as well, and several links in the Nexus tutorials section, and of course YouTube as well, but those can be a little confusing sometimes until you have your bearings, but I recommend anything by DarkFox. He does some good simple guides on CK usage.
