How do you fix Fast Travel?

somehow I've lost the ability too fast travel. I keep getting the message that I can't fast travel from here. How do I fix this?

Indoors won't let you, cept small worldspaces. Survival mode also won't let you. Beyond that if it glitched out from your messy an unorganized install and/or bad habits, who knows. You could attempt to diagnose it by isolating the variables. Start a new game an see if it is something locked in that save game, or roll back save games. Turn half the mods off, then turn the other half off, and such to locate it. Something like that. Survival Options as a mod for survival mode does many things, one of them is a fast travel toggle if it was that.

I was getting stuck with no fast travel after completing the Kellogg mission so I dug around and found this.

1. During normal gameplay (not VATS, terminal, convo, etc), open up the console and type "DumpInputEnableLayers" without the quotes of course.
2. In the data dump (shouldn't be large,mine was only 2 lines) look for Disabled Layers and for the Fast Travel Disabled line. It should have an integer number after it. Mine was 0.
3. Type "ResetInputEnableLayer #" without the quotes and where # = to the layer that mentioned Fast Travel Disabled.

You should now be able to fast travel again. I believe the game runs a script to stop you from being able to do something like traveling or shooting during cut scenes and such and then the script is supposed to be removed after but in some cases it isn't, so this should do it.

This works.

For you old guys over 70 like me with dementia, and limited pc skills, ResetInputEnableLayer 0, or 1, or whichever layer it shows on. That is all you have to do. Easy pesee.

This happened after Red Glare, seems to occur on other Brotherhood of Steel quests.

Just use whichever layer number its on. Thats all.

Hello. if you are exit Fort Hagen, after kill Kellogg, you see the Brotherhood ship, enter Commonwealth. if you need to fast travel you must go far away from this location and then start fast travel. Also i thing, if you are for the first time at Nuka World, you need to finish this quest and exit to the map, before you can fast travel.

 

Sometimes i remember, i use console ~ commands to fast travel a location, while i am at a important vanilla quest.

if you can't fast travel, use some console commands, like

 

coc farharborext

coc sanctuaryext

coc lexingtonext

 

You can't use commands to fast travel anywhere. Not all settlements have a quick console command access.

 

Use a search engine and find the commands to fast travel to Nuka World.

 

Maybe you need to start a new game. There many good mods out there, to build stuff, about furniture. Use the companion mods, Laura and Jasmin and make great armors / Exotic also give great armors. There are also mods to jump high and not cause death at all jumping down after. At quest fusion city, after you find Old North Church and finish the quest about Deacon, you can find the companion Peter at Railroad HQ and after you recruit him, you can get the Sydney ring, give more power armor and jump more high, like using a jet pack.
