Game Violence makes Violent People?

I have three sons all have played "violent" games most of their lives. The oldest played Wolf3d on a 386dx40 and 8bit SB pro, auf weidersehn :)..

We killed each other over a null modem cable in Doom for days and months. It feels like it now anyway. As the other boys have come along they have been into it almost from birth. I have never stopped my kids from playing any game they like and even participate if I can. I have never censored what movies they choose to watch. My oldest has left home and is living his life happily and without any involvement with law enforcement ever. My other two are still at home and doing their school work and not getting into trouble either. None have turned into any kind of sociopath. Communication and treating others as equals is what matters, virtually killing each other hasn't hurt us a bit and they seem to make pretty reasonable life choices.

It's not games that make you angry enough to kill someone.

Bang! Headshot!

We have a couple of choices.

1: These things are gender specific. i.e. They only affect males as women don't tend to go out on raping/killing sprees and I'm sure they watch porn and play games.

2: It's just a nonsense.

3: Dez, fur or steel? :ninja:

fur...of course!

ya really if som1 saw sumthing in a video game and did it becuase they saw it in the video game they obviously have a poor make beleive and real life boundry and be extremly impressionable i dont think som1 is so stupid as to do somthing just becuase they saw it.... well a healthy person wouldnt. banning video games would be pointless why not ban knifes? they are easy to conceal and ppl get killed with a knife more than ppl getting killed by some idiot who played a video game... some stupid mother somwhere saw there kid playing a game like wwe then they got into a fight at school and blame this is how this bullshit started.

Actually it's just the politicians looking for an excuse for the increasing violence among teenagers, young adults and stuff... A few years ago it was Rock'n Roll that was evil, nowadays it's playing games.

The REAL problem behind it is that life costs more and more and people have to work - mostly both parents, and the childran are alone all day and out of control. Then parents are too tired and it goes on. On the other hand there are many people that are unemployed, and people who HAVE a job don't want to loose it. Some people stay unemployed for years and sometime they give up on themselves, and their children just see no perspective either, and they flee into virtual worlds. And most of the parents then do not care.

It's not the games that make people playing them violent, it's our whole world that doesn't just work the way we would like it to. But instead of solving our real problems people just stand up and claim that videogames are evil, some just don't want to see the truth and others do not care, because it is always easier to find someone whose fault that all should be than to deal with the truth.

That's my oppinion anyway.
