driftasaurusrex
I have a character I'd like to play as, but he'd need an entirely new body mesh...model...uh thing. How difficult would it be for someone to make a new model, with idle animations and maybe a custom armor set? What would I have to do to get someone to make something like this (because I sure as hell cant right now) I have plenty of art and such...but playing as this character would make the game extremely fun for me, moreso than it already is. EmissaryOfWind
If you can use the human skeleton, it'll be way easier. It's still possible to create your own skeleton, at least I believe, but it's an added difficulty. Maybe one of the non-human skeletons can be repurposed as well. TheSpaceShuttleChallenger
Sculpting a body mesh from scratch is a week or more of work. And I mean full time work, not just afterschool hobby stuff. Idle animation is several hours per animation. Custom armour, if made from scratch, is several more days of full time work. And it's all skilled labour so, uh, probably the only way you're going to get somebody to make all that for you is if you pay them. A lot. Like... Your entire paycheck. EmissaryOfWind
Yeah, on commission I would count $150-$200 per armor set, maybe up to $500 for the body mesh, and $500 as well for a full animation set, assuming you're using an existing skeleton. So if you can't or won't open your wallet, I recommend getting to work :P There are many tutorials out there to learn how to make armor, and a body is made the same way, but of course you'll have to adapt them to whatever skeleton you're using, so it's a bit more advanced. As for animation, I don't know of any tutorials, so you'll have to rely on figuring it out as you go and asking qualified people for advice when you hit a roadblock.
