palaceman
Could some one recommend a mod to add weapons to my Mojave/New Vegas experience? I am looking for something LIKE AG Supplemental Weapons where there is a nice balance of energy weapons and ballistic/bullet weapons but not so many? (It's also a bonus that the AG Supplemental Weapons guy is actually a gun enthusiast in real-life but still comes up with weapons that seem to fit more in the Fallout universe than the real-world's gats, lugers, FLN Fals/DBGS, Desert eagles, blah, blah, blah.) So, why don't I just download AG Supplemental Weapons? Becuase there are 120 or 160 weapons in it and I am looking for not that many. I'd also like new melee weapons thrown in the mix and I don't know that AGSW does that. (Does it?) I'm playing as my same character from FO3 and he drove cross-country to get a break from an intense life of mutant-killing violence in DC to shoot dead the occassional giant radscorpion in the mojave as a nice, safe courier. (We see how well that went, right?) Combine that retiree-ambition with the fact that FONV's map is about 20 percent smaller at least than FO3 and a mod with millions of guns wouldn't make sense for this particular playthrough. (Though character's expectations tend to get blown to hell more often than not in video games. USG Ishimura any one?) I must admit, before I downloaded FOOK into my fallout 3 I used to look at all the weapons and think it was over the top. Until I played it! And it was great! So, may be more weapons will be better but for now I'd like something along the lines of AG Supplemental but with not THAT many weapons as I see FONV as kind of a slow, sleepy desert compared to DC. Also, the mods I'm currently using are IWS, New Vegas Bounties 1, AWOP (with less loot) and most recently Fellout. Maybe compared to New Vegas FOOK or CaliberX (is that still running? It looked like it got taken down?) AG Supplemental Weapon's 160 weapons will look as small as it gets. Also, I'm not big on downloading a mod for just one weapon. Especially when the fewer weapon mods always seem to not have energy weapons in them? I did a thread search and didn't see any thing under New Vegas Nexus forums that addressed my question so here it is, a new post. Thank you for your input. Mahare
First bit, and just a touch nitpicky - the maker of the Supplemental Uniques mod is a girl :D AGSU doesn't add any melee weapons; I would still recommend it though as the weapons are spread far enough apart. It has 130 weapons, and that's only if you have all the DLCs installed. I'd guess about 20 to 30 of the total weapons are spread through the DLCs. Now. Additional suggestions. Classic Fallout Weapons adds in a ton of lore-canon weapons from Fallout, Fallout 2 and Tactics. Melee, Guns, Energy, you name it. Project Nevada adds in some guns and energy weapons, including Fallout 3 weapons that were left in the game files. And an odd suggestion - the Happy Widow Powerfist Set. Adds in some powerfist weapons that use melee, explosives, and energy weapon skills. Hope this helps!
FMod
Could some one recommend a mod to add weapons to my Mojave/New Vegas experience? So, why don't I just download AG Supplemental Weapons? Becuase there are 120 or 160 weapons in it and I am looking for not that many.Hmm... I never thought too many would be the problem.Really between Project Nevada and Classic Weapons you get a number of good additions, but not too many. They don't balance perfectly against one another though. I must admit, before I downloaded FOOK into my fallout 3 I used to look at all the weapons and think it was over the top. Until I played it! And it was great! Try FWE - it sounds like it would suit your tastes better.FOOK's weapon additions were nice, but somewhat random. Also, the mods I'm currently using are IWS, New Vegas Bounties 1, AWOP (with less loot) and most recently Fellout.Dump Fellout, it's long supplanted by Project Reality. Use the latter. Maybe compared to New Vegas FOOK or CaliberX (is that still running? It looked like it got taken down?) AG Supplemental Weapon's 160 weapons will look as small as it gets.CaliberX is still on the site, easily found. It doesn't actually add weapons though, only ammo.If you want a good ammunition mod, I can send you one very nice WIP I've got. It's designed for CaliberX+GRA+Nevada+CFW, to make most weapons a lot more involving to use, by adding life-like variety to ammunition. Not ready for release for lack of description etc. For Melee Weapons, PN+CFW will add a few already. You don't need a whole lot. TBH I started a melee character the last game - and quickly got disappointed... about how overpowered melee weapons are even at a melee skill of just 20. I can beat up Giant Radscorpions with a crowbar no problem at all, just strafe and pound. No need for pistols, machineguns, anything, all you need to finish the game is Ratslayer from far away and a crowbar close up.
