.ESP Files Just Suddenly Stopped Working!

I have several .esp files that did work and now suddenly do not and I have no idea why. Cautious wolves and Cowardly horses, for instance, have both stopped working. I know, because I have a save game where I'm on a horse with wolves nearby. Before the wolves would not attack and if they did the horse would bolt. Now, instead of staying back, they immediately attack me and my horse, and when I dismount from the horse, instead of running away, it chases the wolves down and stomps them to death ...

Why would the .esps work one day and then not the next?

Yes I have them in the right folder.

Yes I'm using "bEnableFileSelection=1" in the skyrimprefs.ini.

Please help me figure out what is going on ....

Did you activate them through the Data Files section of the launcher or through NMM? Did your game update since you played last?

Also, make sure that plugins.txt and DLClist.txt found in the \Skyrim\ folder at C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Application Data\ on XP or C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\ on Vista/7 are writable by opening their properties and unchecking the tick box for "read only" on both of them.

I've tried every fix i can find on the internet for anything remotely similar to this problem, and it's still happening. I woke up this morning and loaded up Skyrim. NONE of the .esp files loaded with it. My texture mods are still working, but nothing else. It's pissing me off. If any of you here on the forums have any ideas PLEASE tell us.

I'm having the exact same problem. Mods that were working perfectly before, suddenly aren't anymore. The vanilla textures work fine, but anything custom is invisible.

I just uninstalled Oblivion and the old construction set to make some room on my pc, but that shouldn't have an effect on what's going on in my Skyrim folder.

I finally figured it out. It turns out that for some reason my Program Files x86 folder became unreadable, meaning the Plugins.txt could not be written, hence why skyrim couldn't recognize any .ESPs. Just move the Skyrim folder to C:\Games. It should work, it worked for me.
