ExpatLuke
I'd like to get into modding. But I'm wondering how much of a learning curve is there? I'm mainly interested in making my own housing mods, since every single mod out there always comes "close" to what I'm looking for, but never completely. I've a knack for interior design, so I'd love to try making my own interiors. But I hear all sorts of things like "nav mesh" and making your own textures. How long would it take for a total newbie to learn and execute a great housing mod? Is there any coding that goes into it? What skills other than a knack for interior design are needed? irswat
depends on the person I think. The CK is pretty intuitive. I'm starting to get the hang of it after playing with it only a short while. The only prior experience I have with modding of this sort is GECK and FONV
FrankFamily
You don't need to know how to make custom textures to make a great housing mod, specially given how many resources to put some non-vanilla content there are. Nav meshing is easy, don't worry too much about it. Coding depends on how complex the mod is, if you want to implement automated item sorting or similar stuff then yes, papyrus will be needed, otherwise none or minimal. I'd recommend this for tutorials, it has a lot of stuff regarding level design, navmesh etc.http://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Category:Tutorials
