dissembly
Hi all, I recently went back to replay The Witcher (after getting as far as Chapter 2 a year or so ago only to accidentally format my hard drive as a RAID array and have to re-install everything). I can't seem to get the "She's No Early Bird" quest to begin. I have completed most of the quests, except for those which end Chapter I (I haven't gone to tell the reverend about the nature of the Beast, or gone after the Salamandra's hiding spot). I have gone into the tavern, and tried both of the positives conversational options you can try with Vesna ("Beer -> Compliment", "Come sit with me -> compliment"), and she's said the whole "My, you know how to compliment a woman" thing several times. But nothing seems to happen beyond that. I've left the tavern, between 20:00 and 0:00 several times over. I've gone in the right direction at hourly intervals. I've been in the right place and time to defend Vesna from the gang of would-be rapists countless times now, but she (and they) never turn up. Now I'm worried that I've done something that has stopped her plot from progressing. Should I have flirted with Vesna *before* killing the Drowned Dead in the Monster By The Lake quest, for example? Does her story only work during the very early moments in the Outskirts, when you first arrive? It's really frustrating, because now I'm worried about progressing any further. If Vesna's plotline is broken, are other plotlines broken elsewhere? Does anyone know what might be going wrong? Why isn't she showing up?
markoBG
First thing that comes to my mind is that you progressed through the first chapter enough to make that quest unavailable, you said you only have to finish the main quest and be done with the chapter, so that might be it. Also, try checking if she is there after the midnight, around 01:00 - 02:00am. Who knows, maybe she is
dissembly
That's so strange though, I've checked the wiki and several other sites, and there's no mention of Vesna's plotline being dependent on any other quests. I've also gone back to an earlier save, where i'm partway through, but there's a few other quests (like killing the Drowned Dead Nadir) incomplete, and same thing happens (or fails to happen). :( So very frustrating. I want the 1000-1500XP (and the card ;) ) under my belt, but more importantly, I just want to know that my game isn't broken and I'm not wasting my time by continuing to play it. tommy5761
As far as i know no other plotline is involved with the "Early bird' quest . You only need to talk to her once and then meet her outside the inn between 9 and 10 PM at the earliest. I have a question though when you are traveling at night do the barghests still appear ? If not then that might be the trigger because as you escort her home after the thugs you are attacked by barghests in route .
ghosen
There is a quest dependency for this. Sorry I can't remember which one prevents you from getting her card, IIRC it is fairly early on though and I think its a mainplot quest, not one of the Notice board quests. BlickJustice
The quest with Vesna should be started early to avoid any problems with it later. If you flirted with her and left the tavern, the event is going to happen the next available evening (in most cases the same day you talked to her)- it's easy to leave the inn and forget about it- the event happens if you accidentally get too close to the situation and well, she is attacked then with nobody to help. Something that always should work- stay in the tavern until late evening hours, and go outside then - the event will be there, east from the gate.
