Problem with installing Patch(es)

So I downloaded the 2.0 unofficial patch, tried to install it, but didn't know my version of Oblivion was still the original version. So while installing, I had to click my way through a lot of errors, only to find out the patch couldn't be installed at all. I checked into it, saw what the problem was.

When I played oblivion after that, most of the ground textures were completely messed up, sometimes the ground was every meter a little map of oblivion instead of pavement or earth/grass.

I was not sure where the problem was, cuz when I checked the main oblivion data files, nothing was modified (I checked the dates of last modified), but it seemed logical the problem would be in the textures file. I didn't want to mess around making things worse, so I reinstalled Oblivion, clean fresh and new, plus I added all the mods I used before, again.

Now I've downloaded a couple of mods that need OBSE and/or patch 2.0/1.5. I tried to install OBSE, turns out it also needs the patch. Knowing what the problem was, and not wanting to mess things up again, I downloaded all the patches, from begin to end from HERE

I took those without language option (for example I took patch 1.5 and not patch 1.5 englsih or patch 1.5 german), cuz I live in Belgium so I don't quite know which one is the good one, and if they are referring to the oblivion game language or just the country.

When I tried to install these, I got the same problems all over again, but this time I didn't install them: I started the installation, comes up an error message: "uncorrect ini file" or something like that. I immediatly shut down the setup wizard, as I don't want to reinstall Oblivion and the mods all over again, would I get those weird textures again. Second time I tried to install the patches (trying one by one), it showed the error message "old file not found". So what the heck?

I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me what is going on.

I don't know, it could be I downloaded the wrong patch, I don't know which patch to start with, and weather or not I have to specify which language. My Oblivion version is the original version (so I think that's 1.0.45 or something close)

Anyway thanks for reading this, and please let me know if you know/find anything that could help.

Smooth.

P.S. If you need anything, more information, just ask, but I think I've said all I know

The patch language is the language of the game. There are 2 English versions, US & UK and they are different. - Quick example, In UK programe in US it's spelled program.

You only need to install the latest patch, v1.2.0416.

However, if you have Shivering Isles, use that one and NOT the Oblivion patch. If you do not have Shivering Isles, use the Oblivion patch and NOT the SI patch

I recommend getting the patch directly from The Elder Scrolls site: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm

Note that none of the patches will work with the Direct2disk version.

You may need to uninstall your Oblivion to get rid of incompatibilities. - Check the pinned topics for how to do that properly. I don't know how old saved games will work if they were saved in a different language version, but I suspect there will be problems.

I recommend renaming your saved game file before starting the uninstallation process. They are usually located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves

I'll try all that, but just one thing:

I already tried installing the latest patch after reinstalling oblivion (so without all the mods) and it gave me just the same problems.

Any idea how I could know which Oblivion version I got?

It's english, I think it's the UK one, but I'm not sure. I live in Belgium
